I am going to have roughly 1,000lb in the bed of my truck on an upcoming trip. This weight consists of RSI Smartcap, iKamper, CRF110, Rigd Tire Carrier+Spare, ARB Fridge +misc. gear.

I am wondering if anyone here has carried the same amount of weight, on stock springs, and might have a picture of it? Really don't want to swap coils but I will if I have to.

Thanks!

my buddy had an XXXL james baroud on his rsi and while it did not squat a lot he hated how it handled when passing semi trucks and it wallowed bad in corners. his weighed over 9100lbs on a scale. mine was just a bit lighter at 8840lbss mine did not wallow or sway when passing trucks. We attributed his handling issues to the rtt. we had same basic tires ie mine Toyo RT 35 on AEV wheels and his Nitto Ridgegrapplers same size on same wheels.6D0F8709-B4CF-4365-A9D2-8E8C07FFACEA.jpeg

Did your buddy already have a rear track bar? I think that would play a lot into the handling, but obviously load and spring rate do as well.

Over 1ton of gravel in the bed. Over 10,000 total across the scales iirc
Handled it fine but I wouldn’t want to Road trip with it like this1FC149B3-4E0C-4AF8-9E27-35ABC28D78A7.jpeg

how did it ride with that weight? would you feel comfortable doing 3,000 miles like that? lol

thinking about going with airbags at this point. already ordered kings, from thuren, spec'd for stock spring rate/height. so not sure what to do here...

after almost ****ting himself when he passed a semi on a fast two lane road (I was behind him and scared the crap of me to as he was all over the place) he added a Thuren rear track bar and airbags with daystar cradles. they helped but not entirely. Mine never exhibited any of the handling quirks and really the only difference was how he had the rtt set up. it was a big honker. I helped him install it and it was a heavy sucker and probably caught the wind. he put it on after that photo where the sun shade is between us.

Hoping I don't experience anY of that, lol. Used to get that all the time in my 4Runner, with a RTT. Figured going with a 8K lb truck would surely be the cure, guess not.

Just ordered these - https://www.cjcoffroad.com/collecti...9-ram-2500-rear-suspension-enhancement-system
supposedly a great alternative to airbags, that install/uninstall in about 10 minutes. Not a whole lot of reviews to be found but the few there are say that they are great. One of the guys at CJC just confirmed they will work fine on the PW. He said he deleted the airbags off his 2500 or 3500 and went with these, when towing. Hope they work out. I didn't want the compromised ride quality of airbags, since it will be rare that I am driving around with 1500 lbs in the bed.

Stock springs, 1” front spacer

2280lb of cargo plus topper (150? Lb)

Non power wagon 2500 gas

Squatted maybe 1”

Well i only had to go a few miles….It was super soft and smooth. Could definitely feel the weight braking and cornering.
Could the truck handle it for 3000 miles? Yeah. I’d prefer not to

Definitely see the squat here with the 5er and the boat. This was before adding airbags. Boat was all over the road. Scared me so bad I won’t be doin that again. Carli 2.5” level kit with adjustable track bar and Fox 2.0 shocks all the way around.

2150lbs in the bed just in the water cube, plus there is fuel tanks and a loaded trailer with SXS and lots of hunting gear

Stock springs 2500 cummins

Measuring tape showed it being perfectly level at the wheel wells
