Under Tailgate DOT light ??

I also installed a factory one, wired in to my license plate lights.
My light came with screw but no nuts.
Here are the factory parts #'s I used.
68362184AB Tailgate Lamp Bar
6509432AA Snap In Nut (you need 2)
YOU ARE THE BEST!

The insets are smaller.

I think I found a bag of 8 at NAPA for much less.

This is what I installed on my 2020 - Amazon
No factory plug in the rear, hard-wired to tail light
Have installed them on every truck since 1960, never questioned or stopped by the man

No reason to be stopped. If you ever did you can ask them to show you the law.

I have been stopped by a cop once due to bake lights on my backrack though the lady came up to my window and started with the line “i dont know if those lights on your rack are legal or not” i told her to find me a law stating you cant add brake lights after 20 mins i was let go

This is an older picture but the lights in question lol i also added the below the tailgate light instead of the stupid one on the tailgate

I only mentioned not being stopped because that was in question in other posts.
Califunny has written rules/laws of how many lights you can have, the lowest and highest they can be mounted, what colors can be used or not used, etc. Like everything else in Califunny, they make rules and only enforce them when it's convenient to their need. Same with misadjusted headlights and the LED or HID colors (temps). Technically it's against the law to alter th OEM equiped headlights in any way, including non-OEM bulbs. Ridiculous!

I was born in Sothern Califunny. My entire family is here Best weather in the USA.
Ocean 10 minutes, Mountains 30 minutes, and desert 60 minutes, Maui 5 1/2 hours
Highest fuel prices, very high cost of living and terrible woke government.
The beauty of Califunny is worth the worst of Califunny

Were these lights standard on all the dually trucks? I don't know if I've ever noticed one before - at least on this generation.

You mean like butt implants for that wicked badonkadonk on a skinny top girl?
:D:D:D I think the implication here is the SRW trucks don't have as sexy of a rear end as the DRW trucks? Them wide hips baby!!!

I live in Arizona. I took my last truck to California and I got pulled over twice. while I was there for the week. Maybe it's because of out-of-state plates, but I had 4 KC lights on a light bar and they were visible (NOT TURNED ON) - and both told me you can only have 4 white forward-facing lights. So, with your headlights and fog lights, you have 8, those need covers. I said, I don't have covers and it's not even night time and I don't use them for any on-road applications. Hate that state.

I am getting old. I just like lights. :)

I have never been pulled over for my 4 KC daylighters yet thankfully lol since my projector retrofit i keep the 2 covers on and i only have the grills for the other 2… i guess i should stay away from commifornia, not that i had any intentions of going there anyway lol

Lots of kids driving with lightbars tied in to the HIbeams so they are on with the DRLs and they dont seem to get pulled over unfortunately

What's the rest of the story?
Did they cite you or merely inform you that Califunny law says those KCs need covers?

No, both just stopped me, asked for License/reg/insurance - asked what I was doing in CA and told them there for my daughter's softball tournament and they asked if I had covered for the lights, I said I don't.. and they both proceeded to tell me that I could only have 4 white facing lights and I said I don't use them for the street they are too bright and they pretty much said ok - have a nice day. Funny is it was the 1st day there and the 3rd day there. I was like if I get pulled over 1 more time!!

So, just a warning. If you don't like being stopped, the lesson learned is to cover your KCs in Califunny. A simple solution.
