Many expensive things are covered, such as the actuator I pointed out. Like I said, I never even considered one until this truck.

Why are these trucks considered 4.5 gen and not 5th gen?

Well I guess what it sounds like is that you can't go wrong by having the extra security blanket if you have the extra $$$$ to throw at it up front, an hopefully that decision don't cost you $$$$$ later if you don't spend it up front. Doesn't sound like there is any wide spread parts problems just isolated events, that would be different criteria for every one

CO2 (Carbon DIoxide) is what you exhale, it isn't a pollutant, and yes plants convert it during photosynthesis.
CO (Carbon MONoxide) is a by product of combustion (engines and otherwise), it *is* a pollutant and will kill you dead.
They say that the clean burn diesels actually ommit less carbon than the current gasoline models. Supposedly the biggest problem with diesel emissions that still a problem is nitrogen oxide wich has led to the ban of diesel engines in some country's. I'm just trying to do my part so I feel like a made a difference. Maybe I'm just fooling myself an living with blinders on. I love my Cummins power, just don't want it to be like my 96 ram 3500 was every time I would let it eat

Rich, you're correct that modern clean diesels putting out the same or less CO than equivalent power gassers, and the problem is NOX and diesel particulates (hence DPFs, and urea systems). I just wanted to clarify on Bozo's "plant food" comment that there's a huge difference between CO and CO2, it's an easy slip up to make.
That's why those Damn nox sensors fail to much, at least on the commercial side. To much nitrogen, eats that stuff up like candy. I wish you could just buy an extended warranty for the regen system, with out all the extra coverages. Now that would be something id invest in
Gee Professor, I didn’t know that, really? I must have forgotten my 5th grade science classes. Comment was a tongue in cheek remark only, lest you think I was serious about huffing exhaust fumes. I will continue to do my part to give the global warming, cooling, climate change, nut jobs, something to fret about. Excuse me while I burn up a set of tires.

That sounded like s coal role if I ever heard one. Never tried exhaust fumes, pretty sure that could kill yah dead, but I did try Freon from our blown up house air conditioner, was pretty good stuff, but I don't condone or condemn it. I am not a role model, do not do as I do

It may not be a pollutant, but it is one of the gases an emissions machine monitors. CO, CO2, O2, HC, NOx.
Have been exposed to my share of Freon fogs before they started regulating that. Now it’s just paint fumes and such....
