Are you stock or emission tuned??I just threw the same code yesterday after installing my banks CAI... keep us posted
Stock, waiting for the Banks tune later this summerAre you stock or emission tuned??
Correct, looking for a solution. Banks has one, just waiting for their response. It flows too much air and the truck is too clean so the ecm is freaking out
Put the factory air box it will go away. The ecm is seeing To much fresh air because of the banks intake. I took mines off till they come up with a solution.I also just threw code P0402 on my '22 while towing about 7k lbs. Cleared the engine light with a scanner, engine came back 50 miles later. Its since turned off on its own after a couple days (pulling our travel trailer ID-MT-WY-CO-ID) I have a Banks ram air but that's it. It does sound like the valve may be be cracked because there is a slight low hiss coming from the EGR that I don't remember hearing before. Also my mileage seems pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it's terrible and other times it seems far better. Will let you guys know what the dealer says.
I mispoke - I have the Monster-Ram intake elbow (https://bankspower.com/products/int...bBIY_Ni4CLf_QpqAHvw9dNCz3WdBr8vRoCiTgQAvD_BwE)Put the factory air box it will go away. The ecm is seeing To much fresh air because of the banks intake. I took mines off till they come up with a solution.
They do not have a fix at this point. I returned mine for a complete refund .Checking in on this installed the Banks CAI 3 weeks ago, got the P0402 this morning, not change in performance, just the check engine light. Has anyone seen anything from Banks addressing this? i still have to boost tubes and intake elbow to put on, kind of hope this isn't an issue I'm creating for myself - TIA!
My son and I both 2022s. Both do it but there's no rhyme or reason, last time it set the code we pulled our airstream over the pass into Vegas and out the other pass in 99 degrees, no code, got up to Mesquite for lunch, code set off on the on ramp. No sense at all. The Banks person I talked to put our names on a "list" for when they get a fix, hope they get around to it fairly soon....I just called Banks and spoke with their tech support. It's not a lean code, so your AFM is not being leaned out by the CAI. Remember the P0402 code is for EGR excessive flow which is crazy because the EGR is on the other side of the engine on top of the intake manifold, after the air has gone through the CAI, the turbo, and the intercooler. Banks told me that it doesn't happen to every vehicle and all the ones that come into their shop for install, (which usually get the whole package including CAI, Monster Ram Air intake, and boost pipes,) aren't tripping the code, so they are still working on why some get it and some don't.
Mine has only gotten the code twice and it's while pulling (~6500lbs) and after stopping at an intersection then accelerating to highway speeds. Not a ton of boost pressure, I've seen more pressure going up some of the hills/mountains in Idaho, though I'm not sure the boost pressure has anything to do with it, but it's only been under moderate acceleration.I just bought a Banks CAI for my MY23 Rebel 6.7. Do you all get the code all of the time or just under load at high boost? Is it perhaps a change on the late model year (MY22+) Ram's with the Cummins?
Banks had an interesting dilemma on their CAI for the current gen L5P Duramax in that they created more air going past the MAF and not surprisingly, I am sure, it was throwing a code. So what they did to solve that was create a patented Air Mass Control Module that went between the MAF on the CAI and your engine. I suspect it fools the ECU just enough to where it all works. I'm disappointed to hear this on the 6.7 Cummins, this thing isn't exactly new. After watching the video on Banks CAI versus the S&B, I wouldn't want any other CAI on my truck.
With these modern trucks they are looking for a specific amount of boost at all rpms/load, so you can be over-boosted at 10 psi if the ECM thinks you should only have 5 psi. It's not about peak boost anymore, it's about a specific amount of boost at any given time. The 6.7L with stock tuning has always been sensitive to CAI's.
