OEM spare for 37’s

Hello all,

I’m sure this topic has been beaten to death but here goes.

I have a 2019 2500 Hemi 4x4, 4.10 rear. I am putting on a Carli level kit and plan on 37’s. Unless someone can convince me to go with 35’s. I bought the wheels CJC recommend to fit 37’s with only minor trimming.

My concern is with the spare. Can I use the OEM spare and just put it on the front in 2wd to limp home or to a tire center in the event of a flat? I may get a 5th wheel tire combo for long trips but don’t want to carry that behemoth around all the time.

The truck is mostly a mall crawler but I use the bed almost every day. I tow pretty rarely anymore.

I have been in search of the same answer for my Power Wagon, and the general consensus is just that: throw it on the front and limp to wherever you need to go.

I had a lifted 2500 on the Carli setup prior on 35s. It looked good. Looked better when I switched to 37s.

Put it on what ever position goes flat it will be fine the helical LSD wont be affected by it

If you use aftermarket wheels to get the optimal offset (+18 on a 9" wide wheel)...then you will use different lugnuts on the aftermarket than the stock wheels. Therefore you will need to carry 8 "stock" lugnuts with you as well to fit the spare.
Just my $0.02

Whe do you believe that? Unless your wheels are flange style lug nuts, and you switch to cone (or vice versa), this isn’t a problem. The offset of the wheel doesn’t define which style lug nuts are used.

I don't remember what offset the aev salta wheels are, but I'm using factory lugnuts with them.

They are almost all standard 60° conical seat unless duals so why would you carry 8 lugs with you the splined nuts work perfectly fine with oem wheels. Hell most guys i know with the chrome capped nuts switch to splined nuts after the oem nuts start swelling still on OEM wheels

Yeah it will, seen plenty of those tests run and they do not like a big speed difference.

The only way it would be affected is if you are driving it like an idiot, if you are limping it home and not hot roding it they are perfectly fine

I am aware that the offset is not related to the lugnut.
I figured if the OP was rolling 37's, then there is a high likelihood that there would be aftermarket wheels potentially from CJC as previously mentioned and he will be told to get new lugnuts with that purchase.
I'm sure you can fit the new lugnuts onto the spare...may not be the correct seat taper, but would work, I guess in a pinch.

AEV is different...per CJC's website
"*These lug nuts have a taper/shoulder for aftermarket wheels. They are not designed for factory wheels OR AEV Wheels*"

Very rarely do aftermarket wheels have anything other than a 60° conical seat the other lug styles are more import style oem lug nuts
