Why are these trucks considered 4.5 gen and not 5th gen?

I am by no means a greenie-weenie. I am a life-long motorhead, and the likelihood of me owning a Makitamobile are slim to none. However, we have lived in AZ for 15 years now, and when we got here, being 50+ miles from PHX the sky was crystal clear, etc. In that short time span, the smog has crept up from the valley as the population has exploded, and there is always a damn haze in the sky. My truck will stay stock, and I am not in favor of deletes anymore. As Bozo correctly pointed out, being required for Federal Emissions Standards ALL emissions components should be warranted for 100K. It is criminal that they leave the owner on the hook for the DPF, etc.

10/4 on the greenie weenie, thats a god one. I'm with you 100%. They are even finding on the electric vehicles that the larger battery power packs are proven to be just as bad for the environment. I'm all in on my hummin cummins, just want it to be as powerful as it can be an yet feal like I'm doing my part for our climate. Speaking of dpf/regen/nox/etc, does anyone know if this is covered under the 3yr, 36,000 mile bumper to bumper

I do not know for sure, but I highly doubt that emissions could be excluded from the bumper to bumper warranty if no hanky panky with the systems.
 
For the record, the new diesels seem to be cleaner than gasoline counterparts.........at least from my tailpipe huffing experience. o_O

That's pretty much what i was assuming provided like you said that there's no manipulation any you dont do anything stupid like put def straight into your diesel tank then drive off. I would find it hard to believe they couldn't cover that, but hey, seams like there's always loop holes when it comes to coverage
 
Max care is the extra coverage you can purchase correct. I'm just sticking with what comes with it. Imop, the regen is the most likely to screw up so if its not covered under max care then what is the point.

Because it does cover the troublesome VGT turbo actuator, for instance. I have never bought an extended warranty before for anything, but I did on this truck.

Thats hilarious, complete opposite. I've bought those extended warranties an service plans on everything our whole lives. We never once needed or used it, so were opting out on this rig, hope it wont bite me in the a$$ now

Or $2,200 DEF pump repair.

Not an extended warranty guy, but for $1085 coverage 8/60K $200 deductible, I'll pull the handle.

Yea, those too.

That said, in most of the posts I've seen online, the dealers and FCA are balming fuel and shafting the owner on the CP4 fuel system failures to the tune of $10K.

Maybe if mine ever goes, there will have been a class action lawsuit by then to get FCA to remedy.

I'm not going to stress over it. I'll keep using top tier stations and record and keep all my receipts and fluid/filter changes.

I got a pretty stupid relation that has done that, in addition to putting gasoline in the tank and driving off.......3 times! He lived in Colorado when this happened. Go figure.
 
Yup, da stuff normally happens when on the good stuff. I could quote prices on commercial vehicles regen system all day long, but on these mini me s, i don't have a clue of cost. The big boys can go over 15-20k just by trouble shooting
