Why are these trucks considered 4.5 gen and not 5th gen?

His panities are in a twist because the seats are different, "recline" for the rear, and the FCW camera is a monstrosity (valid point) in the HD's.

I think he probably whined about the transmissions available as well.

No telescoping wheel. FWIW, I never felt the need with and adjustable seat (and pedals).

P.S. You can watch Youtube at different speeds, I rarely even watch one below 1.25 or 1.5 speed anymore.

I normally just watch on cg WiFi. But its out today. Use ours just for streaming movies. Agree on the pedals, just move the dang seat. It will be interesting to see what they come out with or will this be the era ( like the old body styles) were nothing changes forever. Either way I feel like we're good. When you buy the best an most capable out there, now that's a rig you can retire with.

There is one valid point this guys makes in this video: the space the LIDAR takes off the windshield. Being a tall guy, there is definitively a big blind spot there.
The 4.5th gen has the most obscured windshield in that regard, compared to both 4th and 5th gen.

Im a short ole guy but I always crank my seat up in the ceiling. Guess I just got use to sitting up high from my MACK . The only problem j ever have with my 16 model ( whatever gen series that is), is the corner posts create such a blind spot

I think he's going to have to wait another year, as I think the projected date for the 5th Gen HD is '22, and that was before this virus thing.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. There's allot of stuff out there going through the same thing. Stuff projected for next year is getting pushed further out. I'm happy acting when I did, there's always gonna be something bigger an better out there

The seats are more comfortable too. All opinion I guess but I am biased towards Rams. I drive a new 1500 and it feels like a Ford but with a great interior. Now some on here will say “quit whining and buy a Ford then!” I’m contemplating and looking into it. I know the Ford won’t be perfect either. Hell, maybe I’ll go back to a 4th gen Ram! I had way less issues with my 17’ and 18’ compared to this one. Looks only go so far.

Nothing wrong with doing research and having an educated opinion. I cross shopped the big 3 and the biggest things keeping me from the fords were the 7.3 being brand new, value for what you get and the general interior quality. We’re spending too much cash to not get what we want. Depending on how Ford survives this (with their awful business decisions coming to roost now) you may have yourself some deep discounts/incentives in the near future.

Nothing wrong with doing research and having an educated opinion. I cross shopped the big 3 and the biggest things keeping me from the fords were the 7.3 being brand new, value for what you get and the general interior quality. We’re spending too much cash to not get what we want. Depending on how Ford survives this (with their awful business decisions coming to roost now) you may have yourself some deep discounts/incentives in the near future.

Im hoping my 20 model gen will be as great for me as the 16 model gen. Knock on wood, it's been rock solid. I also know to ,the more electronics you add the more $#!+ screws up. I look at it as trucks are like tractors. Most PEOPLE stick with the same brand of tractor, im a John Deere man an wouldn't buy anything else no matter what, my truck is the same way, would only own a ram, no matter what. I'm just excited to put that 20 model 4.75 gen to the test

I’ll try to dig up the article but it was an in-depth on their financials. Long story short is that Ford financial (financing arm) is solvent and fine. Ford Motor Co just maxed out their debt and will be fringing on penny stock territory without a bailout. Look up junk bonds and who just joined that party.

Guess I'm so brand loyal because both JD & RAM have always treated us real well. Either on the farm for 20+ yrs or on the rd for 25 yrs. They both been there for me. It will be interesting to learn what ram comes out with for next year any what changes they will make, we just started q2, so a long way to go. Hard to imagine pick up trucks can get any better than this though

At one time (I think 2017) they announced it to would be in the 2020s for their big anniversary. If they still want to make work in the 100% 5.0 generation its arrival may be further than 2021 or 22.

I grew up in a Ford family, and bled Ford Blue for a looooooong time. My Dad started in business in '53 and all our trucks were Ford. Heck even our forklifts had Ford running gear. Then, things began to unravel with a never-ending string of Lemons starting in the 80's. After our Expedition blew the head gaskets, AND had a catastrophic transmission failure by 13K miles, that finally broke the Ford habit. Have not bought one in 20 years. I tried a Toyota and that was a POS. Even stooped low enough to try a few GM products, and every one was a disappointment, with a Tahoe that I almost went Lemon Law, and a Silverado that I did successfully Lemon Law. I very nearly bought a First Gen Cummins in '91, because the Junk Ford with the junk 6.9 Cornbinder was such a pile, but decided to grin and bear it. Wish I had bought that buckboard now. Bought my '05 Cummins, which was a great truck, and been buying Mopars since. Perfect? Heck no! Brand loyal? Not really. Right now it's what works for me, and I am a Cummins fan, no doubt. Their decision to run the CP4 has put a little chink in that armor, though.

I had read somewhere that there current system will meet the EPAs guidelines for like 7 more yrs or so. Also our current government keeps rolling back emition standards. I wouldn’t have many issues with the emissions crap if automakers were required to cover the emissions for projected lifespan of the engine. I am all for not polluting, but co2 is not a pollutant in my book. Plant food. I am definitely for less regs. and more power, always!

I totally respect your view an opinion. I'm the complete opposite. In my book, carbon is a bad pollutant an for our futures sake, im all in on more regulations an green protections. As far as more an more power is concerned, i think even those crazy looking tesla trucks have shown you can still have a ton of torque . Over time they all will be able to adjust an find a way to continue to produce pulling behemoths with new technology an a lesser foot print.
