Is It Me or My Cargo Camera

Same here. 2021 w/12" and the top mounted camera is like viewing without eye glasses. Very grainy with or with out zoom activated. One of the very few disapoiont, ents I have with the truck

I usually click on the rear view camera independently- the image is better when its not sharing the screen with the 360 view.

That's what I do when I'm hooking to my gooseneck. Even tried zooming in, in fact that's even worse.

Is it worse than this? Night time is not that great, but daytime is decent on mine.

Okay, so I just took delivery of a 2500 Tradesman today that has the Uconnect 5 with 8.4” Touch Screen Display.

I can say without a doubt, the camera quality on our new Tradesman is several times better than both cameras on my 3500 Laramie. Now the question is this, how do I get the dealership to see this without them blowing it off or saying it works fine? As you can see, I'm kind of OCD when it comes to things working correctly, and I have a personal problem with "living in the wreckage of my future".

Maybe @RamCares could provide some assistance in this thread or through PM?

The iPhone does a good job of trying clear it up, but this was hardly HD, whereas the new Tradesman is very close, if not HD.

Took mine to dealer who agreed. They ordered and replaced the cargo camera with a new one. However, didn't make any differenace at all. The tailgate camera is clear and perfect. He said it will take enough complaints from customers to get any attention to fix it.

The day I took this picture with was extremely hot, and the picture quality was the worse I have ever seen.

@Diesel42 that was my concerned, your new cargo camera didn't fix the problem, which leaves either the cable/wiring or screen. Leaves me wondering if they got subpar electronics during the supply chain meltdown. Do you have the big 12" screen?

I am just amazed at how much better the camera's image is in my basic model Tradesman.

Yes 12” screen. Cargo cam blurry and grainy. Tailgate cam, as great a picture as my new iPhone???
Dealer thinks it has to be in the software. Question is: When will Ram escalate this to the point that someone will fix it. The fact so many are experiencing the same exact issue leads me to believe it isn’t cameras, wiring, etc. Must be a glitch in the software depot. I really need this to work as I hook up goosenecks and I’m having to jump in and out multiple times to see where I’m at. This truck is right at $100k, it should work like the tailgate cam.

I completely agree, for the price of these fully loaded trucks the camera/image should be crystal clear in this day and age.

You're not alone with needing to get in and out when hooking up a gooseneck, I am thinking about getting one of those magnetic guide sticks.

Ram just sent me a survey this morning, I mentioned this issue several times and said they can contact me to talk further. I trip to our small local dealership is in order, hopefully they will see what I am not seeing.

Keep us posted my 2022 Laramie 12 inch screen is definitely not as clear as my 2019 8.5 Lonestar.

2019 my cargo sucks ass, my backup is crystal HD clear. If you don't have surround cameras your cargo is going to suck no matter the year

When I got my truck 2022 in late '21, the bed camera had good resolution. I could clearly see what was in the bed. Had some issues with the radio randomly shutting off at the beginning of this year, so I brought it to the dealer. I believe they flashed it with the newest available firmware at the time. I didn't really pay attention, but it is definitely much much worse now. I could probably count the pixels on the screen. It's not a camera issue in my truck. It happened after a dealer reflash

FYI- I just got a questionere and followup call from Ram regarding my 2021 3500 Laramie H.O., I mentioned the cargo camera issue and insisted it be sent up the chain for review and resolution. She was very curtius and friendly and assured me that the issue would be addressed. I recommend everyone contact customer care as the more complaints they recieve the faster it will be looked into. Again, the tailgate cam(which is a identical lens as the cargo) is crystal clear. So it must to be something in the uconnect software, makes sense to me anyway. Thats all I have for now.

I agree.

I am in the same boat as the rest of you. Got my 2022 3500 Big Horn in Sept. 22'. I have the 8.4 UConnect5 screen, only the tailgate cam and cargo cam. No NAV. Tailgate cam is clear, cargo cam is useless due to very grainy resolution.

I'll try adding my comments to Customer Care and see if it helps.
