Can you upgrade to uconnect 5?

Much appreciated Jimmy. I do have surround view. Any chance I could get all the part numbers?

Also, any firmware that would need to be updated on my truck before the upgrade? Any issues with code upgrades after the fact?

Is the CVPM change going to alter the way the Trailer Cams work? As in, it will be analog on AUX2 only and expecting a feed from the Trailer surround CVPM on AUX1?

No, pre-2022 owners will still get the aux 1 & 2 camera keys showing up.
After I work out a few kinks in a massive swap I just did on my truck, I’m moving on to the trailer surround view since I have a kit with the truck prepped for it. I’ve got someone looking into to what it takes to get that soft key to replace aux 1.

My primary reason for considering a swap to UConnect 5 is full screen Apple CarPlay on my 12 inch screen. Is there any way such capability could be unlocked in UConnect 4? Thanks. @Jimmy07

Not Jimmy07, but he's mentioned before (here, or another thread) that the older hardware cannot run UConnect 5

I guess I misread the post thinking the BCM was changed out. I see now it's just setting it to 22.

I don't recall if we did that on mine trying to get the trailer light checkout to work?

P.S. Personally and selfishly, I'm more interested in the aftermarket digital camera/tow mode camera setup.

Thanks Gondul. I wasn't so much thinking about running UConnect 5 on the older hardware. Just whether there is any kind of work around to get full-screen CarPlay enabled. Probably not, but thought I'd ask.

Actually, that’s less than I expected, unless the cables are the really expensive part. I mean, $1000 in modules for an $80,000 truck isn’t bad.

And don't forget what seem to be ongoing issues with UConnect 5... granted, this is the internet where everyone goes to complain but it does seem to need a bit more time so they can resolved the glitches.

Just swapped out my 12 uconnect 4 to 12 uconnect 5 and gotta say its very nice, wireless carplay well worth it, just noticed that weather, traffic, eco learn thing and few other app not there anymore after latest update any ideas? Also uconnect 4 radio module had 6 fakra connections (mine ram used all) as uconnect 5 only has 4. thanks jimmy07 for cable.

I noticed the same issue with mine, the weather app was there for a week or 2 then I updated and it disappeared, not sure what that's all about.

Hey guys I just swapped to the UC5 in my 2019 and I am not able to get the reverse camera or surround cameras to work. The truck had the cameras before the swap. I swapped the radio unit, display, and cvpm based on the part numbers Jimmy provided. Any ideas on what might be going on or know the car configuration settings to have these cameras to work?

Why not just ditch the lame Uconnect and get a replacement infotainment
