Hey guys, I have a new 2022 Ram 2500 diesel. With the AC on and very low speeds, first gear I believe, the clutch fan is extremely loud. It isn't like a roaring noise either it is more of a loud whine. Once the speed picks up and it gets into a higher gear it goes away, but when starting from a dead stop it almost sounds like something is wrong. Has this happened to anyone else? Truck has 1,400 miles so I thought maybe it has to break in some?

Where the heck are you where you have to run your A/C???? 30 and blustery here by me... But, I think it may be that when you first start your engine, it has to warm up, yes even in warm weather... So the fan may just be free wheeling, and your grill shutters are closed, you hit A/C and click the fan engages. I would not say mine made a lot of noise but it was noticeable. I would give it a few more weeks and see if it doesn't quiet down, but my guess is like the gent above stated, its normal.

Deep South Texas. In the 80s for the last month. Going to be like that for the next week. I don't think my AC has shut off since I got here in early November. Beats the white stuff back home. LOL

Its normal its the clutch locking up at idle to cool the condenser then you hit higher rpm it releases the clutch its working as designed and needed

Thaks for that. I always wondered why mine did exactly this. On my old gas truck, the fan would only come on when the engine temp got to a high point.

These are electronic clutch so its different even my 05 would do it

Youtube - weird noise 22 ram , Did it sound like this? My ram is doing the same thing. Sounds so weird from a stop.

it's the fan.

otherwise, that thing sounds like a non cgi block cummins.

I have noticed mine making the same noise, since I am using the A/C it makes sense. Sounds normal, annoying but normal!

Mine does the very same thing. At times when the truck is warmed up and at times when the truck is cool (on first start of the day). It is LOUD. Seems to happen more if I am very light into the pedal. I am using the AC constant here in South Texas. But damn its loud.

I will add that my dealership I use from time to time was stumped at what it was.... Now I'm feeling nervous I use them at all. LOL

But glad to hear that it is supposed to do it.

FWIW, I had a loud "Rrrrrrrrrr"ing sound a couple months ago.
Got louder when pressing the accelerator;

Turns out it was a loose fitting in the Power Steering Line, causing a leak.
