This is probably a dumb question, but I'm wondering why more people don't buy regular cab trucks? We're empty nesters. I've owned 3 CCSB 2500's and rarely ever used the back seat. I realize the regular cab is only about 5" shorter, but I'm thinking it will still be a little more convenient driving around town and also the 5" will make the difference on whether or not I can fit it in the garage.

I love the look of a single cab, but with grandkids, we do use our back seat

Because even if we rarely haul more than 2 people, we typically use the back seat for all our "stuff." I rarely have more than myself in my truck but when I'm truck shopping, I search for crew cabs only. Another big reason - resale.

I grew up driving single cabs and would own one today instead of the crew cab, but Im married and she liked the room.
Hopefully one day Ram will offer the extended cab again like the Fords do. I still think the cab and a half's with the 8ft bed is the ideal truck and looks the best.

As a family of 5 there is no way I could live with one. Even if it was just the wife and I, I could Never live with one. I always have something that needs to be in the back seat out of the weather, from a backpack, dog, groceries, you name it, I use the back space daily even without the kids in it. I have owned regular cabs when I was a young man (pretty much all they had back then) and I could never go back.

.

Don't know this first hand, but some have reported a much harsher ride on a RC vs a CC. I would test drive one of each to see first hand if I were you. I love the look of RC, but a CC is a must for me.

Also I would rather have the extra room and not need it, then need the room and not have it.

I say get what you want but, you will take a beating on resale. The single cab long box is the least desirable configuration.

Properly equipped they can also tow almost 40,000 pounds. All others can not.
This is the main reason to get that setup, true max towing.

My first truck was a regular cab, and 99% of the time I was the only person in it, and even then wished it was at least extended cab.

Once we become empty nesters I will absolutely buy a reg cab. Can't wait haha

I had a build for 22 lariat f350 4x4 diesel supercab ,backed out . Ordered a big horn HO 4x4 single cab srw 4 weeks ago. I couldn't find a single cab srw with a ho anywhere along the west coast. There a rare breed

I was originally looking at a standard cab long bed....they don't give you hardly any options for that configuration.....just because it's not a CC doesn't mean it can't be nice in the inside....but I guess that's the way the manufacturer's think....

My local dealership can’t keep used reg cabs very long. to the op if it meets your needs go for it, reg cabs are cool.
In the construction biz its great to have a single cab 8ft box ,tommy liftgate and able to load more building materials.
