Its been 2 weeks since order. Is it 2 late to add additional options

I can’t answer but from experience do it if you can. I bought my tradesman off the lot and thought it was everything I wanted. I was new to Ram and didn’t know about all the different packages, levels etc. I left that morning to replace my F250 with a F250. Decided I’d drive all the competition and settled on the Ram that day. My Tradesman fit 97 off 100 things for me but if I was buying again I would have stepped up to the BigHorn. In all I’ve added flares, 8 inch deck, changed badges and headlights to fix some of the things I liked better on others.

That is a question for your dealer. Just be aware if they can do it it will probably throw any pricing agreement you had out he window. I do know people that have made changes but they ended up paying more in some cases (above and beyond the cost of the additional options)

.

I had this happen to me with the 5th wheel prep package I wanted to add when I ordered but was himing and hawing. That next day I added it, but they had to call into a contact in corporate for a favor to get it added. After 2 weeks I doubt you'll be able to change anything.

I ordered on 3/10 and after reading some of the package differences I realized BSM was not part of the Safety Group Package. On 3/28 I asked the dealer if it could be added and their response was no they only have 12hrs to make any changes. They offered to ask their Ram Rep and on 4/4 I was notified it was added to the order. I’m sure most are not as fortunate, but I feel I was lucky and the build schedule slips may have worked in my favor.

I asked to remove safety and add towing tech a few days after I ordered. My sales guy had told me when I ordered that there would be a time I wouldn't be able to change the order and he would let me know. Anyway, he called me a day or 2 after I requested the change via e-mail and said he got the change in, but his inventory manager said no more changes.

That shoudnt be hard to add after you have the truck, some people upgrade to the 12" from the 8", if you want NE badges, i will be debadging my truck so, there is opportunities.

personally i will be adding surround camera, BSM and a few other things. there are things that are just software options and with AlfaOBD you can just do.

tailgate release is just soldering a button on your remote, along with alarm and remote started, without adding new keys, although you can add new keys, This forum has been very informative.

Even the vism that they say can only be done at the factory, the aux switches, etc. This forum is an amazing resource with an amazing group of like minded helpful people, @Brutal_HO @Jimmy07 @brv10 @OfficerDirtySanchez just to name a few and handfull i have had the pleasure to learn and participate with.

Mahalo for the informative reply. I try to answer most. I wouldn't want to jeopardize the build order process. After hearing the horror posts. Besides 1 was a bolt on others ,interior. Most salesman tell u what you want hear about lenght of time to build, others were more honest. The dealerships were the same. 1 GM required 1k dn before he sent me an invoice of cost of the truck I'm like "really" being in the construction biz everything is qoutes & invoices, before u buy. He as we say an okole hole. I used autotrader found which dealer offered msrp or less. I had 4 of them qoute me . I luckily had an offer at dealer invoice + $1. A Big horn ram 3500 4x4 6.7 HO with aisin trans single cab 8ft box srw granite was ordered. But without making several changes before hand. Had a want, wish, need & a budget list. The trucks are pricey already without all the goodies. Using for construction ,tow boat, equipment trailer was more practical. Had f350 lariat build, but after working on my 03 SD v8 6.0 changing starter, fuel pump, air valve behind turbo & misc . Working on v8 with no room was challenging. Ram 4 life

The potential problem as time goes by is the assignment of the VIN. Once that happens, the "build" is probably locked in, meaning that you might have to start from scratch. But definitely call your dealer and ask, as it seems others have been fortunate enough to get changes approved more than 2 weeks later. And yeah, the price will increase based on the upgrades, and maybe other variables as well.
I hope they let you make the changes that you are wanting. Even though this forum is an mazing resource for a ton of things that the dealer would say are not possible, OEM is always better because it's covered by warranty (just my .02).

Hey Gdave,
After joining this forum, nothing but great info, from all members. Its great to hear from opinions & experience. I got most of the build right ,after several changes, before ordering.

I ordered a 2500 hemi thru Mark Dodge and wanted to add the Aux switches afterward when the truck was in D status. I was told it would be 50/50 if the factory would allow the add-on and if they did I'd lose any price guarantee. I then asked if I cancel the order and re-order the exact same build but add the Aux switches and would MD honor the same pricing discount as before other than adding the $145 for the switches. Yep, they said -- and that's what I did. I lost 1 month in the line but I didn't care as the Aux switches were a nobrainer that I should have initially ordered. MD was stellar thru the entire process.

Hey jimkill
Nice a dealer that can accommodate . Thats great ,its never to late & get what u want! Were paying a premium price. Its hard to get it right the 1st time. Mine was to add a bolt on running board, security alarm, 5th wheel, and etc. I had to remind myself my want, wish, & need list. Besides I have a new list of American force rims, nitto's , lift kit and etc.

security alarm and other software features can be enabled with AlfaODB.

It looks like I'm going to be begging MD to change my order. It's not totally my fault. Was this recent? Was it much of a hassle? Thx

This was back in Dec 2021. A couple of emails back-and-forth between me and Sandi and it was a done deal. So like I first mentioned, I lost a month in the factory line, but MD cancelled the original order and placed a new order that included the AUX switches and honored the original price plus the $145 for the AUX switches. Easy peasy.

some of these options, depending on how long you already had your order submitted are simple to do afterwards. sometimes something that was available when you ordered, may not be bythe time you change your order. be aware.

You're right in many cases. But after reading some great threads here about how difficult it was for some to install the AUX switches afterward convinced me to go the route I did - and luckily all other options I had ordered were still available.
