We got ordered to our houses this week starting today, what are you going to do to your truck?

I just put my plow mount on, still need to mount the plastic valance back on...

I put my running boards on...

The need to do list....

Not doing rocker panels? This is where I got most paint damage, even if I had fender flairs AND mud guards.

I’m doing doors and bedsides as well rockers get done with the doors but I guess I did not add that to this list, it’s $$ to do the entire truck but I pulled the trigger on it roof a,b,c pillars etc ....

When not traveling for projects, I've been WFH since 2003, so it's business as usual except I now have to watch my grandson 2 extra days a week and am his preschool teacher.

So, no downtime projects for me.

Too bad they don't make a truck size condom, it would be perfect for your plan.

My business partner owns a shop here in town and does most of the midwest exotic cars, your Ferrari’s Lamborghini’s Porsche’s and Ford GT‘s etc. they wrap those cars completely, because he is my business partner in another line of business he is doing my entire truck.

I get it. A family friend is doing a good chunk of mine, but I've never seen a paint chip on an A-pillar or a tailgate.

That said, road rash is also a big reason I stuck with chrome bumpers.

Are you going to ceramic coat everything not covered by Xpel? I don't plan to do the paint because 2x year Nu-Finish is $8 and my time and just as good IMHO. I will be putting Gtechnic C4 on the exterior plastic bits, the interior plastics get 303 on a regular basis. My 2004.5 sits out in the sun 300 days a year (avg sun days here) and still looks great.

Here is a good video that compares products type (ceramic starts at 9:05):

I saw a long term performance video, one year of weekly hand washes, and Nu-Finish polymer wax held up just about as well as the expensive ceramic coatings. Personally, I just don't see the value in them on paint and they don't last forever.

Protecting plastics from UV is another story. I'm a big fan of judicious use of 303 inside and out for plastic and vinyl, but the trim "restore" coating (like Gtechnic C4) also seem to work better long term. I put some on the new plastic bits I put on my 04 last year and they still look brand new. Never got around to doing it on the older parts like door handles so I can't say how well the restoration works, but there's lots of videos praising them.

Thanks for the video link, I've seen him before but it's been a while.

After catching up on a few things, I'm just going to get some TURTLE WAX CERAMIC SPRAY COATING and be done with it.

Easy to apply, lasts, and cheap.

Sounds like they are going to “try” this in iowa tomorrow. Not sure how they plan to enforce or really why. If nothing is open, and gatherings are limited, let people roam. At least I will, stay in your home, yeah right, I live in the country and the last place I will stay is inside.

I gots some holes to fill where the dogs were digging for critters. Spring cleaning to do in shop. Wash and ReJex the truck.......have a few drinks in the lawn chair.......get the camper ready to go nowhere fast......I guess I gots busy work to do.

The bagpipe guy is out again tonight.

Plays in the open space behind the house. There was a news crew there last night interviewing him (and a drummer he brought to the party.)
