What did you do TO your RAM today?

Got the tailgate dampener installed along with factory bed step.

Almost went with the AMP step but I like how nicely the factory step tucks up.

How easy is it to deploy the step? It doesn’t look like there is much of a lip to catch..

1st I've seen of this... Smartcap - Very cool. Care to share a few more photos of it's functionality - I doubt you want to share the cost. I like their bed replacement overland setup. Your truck looks ready for adventure.

Made in South Africa.
This version is the duck’s nuts for overlanding. You can sell your factory bed to help offset some of the cost of entry…

Price is $4495 installed at Rocky Mountain Toppers in Billings MT there are other Montana dealers but none could give me a time line and all wanted 50% down (Missoula, Bozeman and Kalispell were dealers I checked with) Rocky toppers required nothing down and they told me they order in several as they know they will sell. side doors open wide. lots of accessories can be found on the RSI smartcap website. top will support 700lbs.049F97C0-A0FE-426B-A028-B335F21EB6B7.jpeg

Pretty easy actually. The lip is small but it’s plenty to get a foot on. And if anyone is curious, it deploys by hand with little effort, you don’t have to use your foot……, though I would be VERY careful closing it by hand, it “pops” back in with a bit of speed/force. Since it tucks up so nicely, I wouldn’t want to get a finger caught in there!

I’ll snap a close up of the lip to give a better view.

It's easy. Right after I left the dealership, I didn't understand the mechanics but recalled a post on here where the guy used his hand to figure it out and got hurt pretty good. lol.
It took less time than it took worrying about the shift 'knob'.
While standing near the rear wheel facing the tailgate, it takes more of a foot-push than a kick to open it, kind flips out quickly.
After you hop out, close the tailgate and just push it right back (it quickly flips in) ...I like it but seems extraneous coming from a bumper with a built-in step.

I'm north of Helena. Didn't even notice where you were located so, perfect information for me. Thanks, That thing is badass. (Moderator, that's not a swear ;)

Ceramic coat because these darn gypsy moths are pooping all over my truck, the trees are dropping staining little pieces and I didn't want to let that get ahead of getting some protection on there.

The first wash, prep, modern coating

I had 'decal delete' on my delmonico red POC but my color change POC forgot it.

Washing a truck is borderline "WDYDTYRT" but the whole time I was waiting for this truck to be built and reading this thread.. I liked ALL the photos of HDRAMS.

Cheers.

Cool truck. I went back and forth on the decal delete, and ended up keeping them on the order, but think I might pull them off now that I’ve seen yours.

Mine is the long bed version of yours. 2500, Billet Silver, Snow Chief, Off Road, Laramie without Sport/painted bumper/NE, Hemi

I know it, man. I watched the spreadsheet every darn day and your build was so comparable. ..My sticker said 3/31 but the timing was released on 4/1, which I think yours was too. and it was interesting how mine went 1700 miles drive....by ship and yours by train. HDRAMS.com has been one of the best aspects of this - parts/vehicle/over-pricing/weird times. I refused to "like" your photo of the bike fitting "with lots of room" - super jealous. My OHV's are all over 8' though so they're trailered but I wish I could toss an ATV in there and roll.

I really wanted the 8-feet but I felt I had to make a concession for the amount of time I am spending on the east coast. It's very crowded compared to my location in Montana...where there isn't a big enough truck. Here, I'm jamming in small spots, and dealing with traffic.
I have peeled the badges and stickers off every vehicle I own. This truck is 4x4. The bright blue shock says that. I want to take off the Laramie and 4x4 badges but I'll wait until I have license plates...or wash it again. Anyway... Enjoy the ride.

Well technically I didn’t do it TO my Ram, since I don’t have it. But I did order the ProCal SNAP about a week after I ordered the truck thanks to this site. I was fortunate. I guess there has been a pretty good price increase, but I got mine delivered for $161. Now just need the truck!
