What did you do TO your RAM today?

Added Husky X-act Contour floor mats - my first official upgrade/modification. They feel good and fit quite well. I had a similar style WeatherTech in my 1500. I don’t know how these Husky liners compare to the Ram equivalent, but they appear to be a better design than the WeatherTech ones that I had.

Those mats look great! I love the OEM mats that have the snap in carpet area, but I need a winter set. Do you know the difference between the Weatherbeater and the X-act?

I researched these several weeks ago, so can't remember the specifics, but liked the X-act much better. I seem to recall differences in the type of rubber - I think the Weatherbeater version was more slippery, which was one of the things that I didn't like about my old WeatherTech mats. But I might be wrong here. It was a few weeks ago.....

BTW - I think these will be great for winter use......

Thanks for the info! I have the OEM mats for my 1500, but the ones you got seem to cover a bit more on the edges. I will have be ordering the X-act.

@Benson - did your mud flaps require drilling? I’m getting ready to install the OEM ones, and it recommends using a wax based rust protector for the holes.

The crappy instructions don’t indicate if I should spray the outside of the drilled area, or if I need to use one of those long thin straw type extensions and spray deep inside.

Any idea? Thanks!

Dave,
I've used the X-Act, Weatherbeaters and Weathertechs and I agree with your research.

I found the X-Act to be the best non-slippery, but the worst for cleaning. No matter how I cleaned them, that no-slip surface always looked dirty. I switched to the Weatherbeaters which are much easier to clean, and they look cleaned. The Weatherbeaters, for me, are definitely not slippery like the Weathertechs

Even the newer rubbery Weathertech HP2 matts don't cover the door sill as much as the X-Act contour.

Nor do the Mopar mats - at all. They end right at the door sill inside edge.

The only matt that covers more (except the sill I think) is the Tuxmat, but I don't like the lack of ribbing (that's what she said).

Today the dog and I got over our insecurities with entering the new truck.
(This is about the dog ramp, not how much I can’t see out the passenger mirror)

The ramp is very secure on the step and the wide-opening rear door clears the ramp and allows good access to the floor.
Door stays closed, I set ramp, open door for dog, close door and put ramp In back.

This one is from Orvis. It’s made by Solv-it (if that helps save a buck).
It’s called the “Super-Lightweight Dog Ramp“ which is insanely misleading because it nearly as heavy as a compound miter saw and more awkward. I’ve learned which way to carry it…or lose a damn finger when gravity retracts it. Being stable and non-flexible lends confidence to my older dog.

I wondered how my older pup would handle the height transition but shes fine with this ramp. And I’d rather haul a ramp than go through more TPLO surgery bills.

RAM is 300 miles home from the dealership with just 200 more locally, getting 18+ hwy 15 avg and our long dirt drive has it looking like it’s mine. Dog‘s expression due to wanting a piece of duck not being told to pose.

I watched the product video. It weighs 18lbs. My miter saw weighs 64lbs. Hmmm

jetrinka,
2 photos from delivery day.
First into the new truck was the super-charged bird dog, followed by my old Lab, You can see the overwhelming joy on her face at the new seats, new smells, new ride….new everything…as we drove our 1st 50 miles.

in case this seems unfitting for “what did you do to your truck” …consider the volume of dog hair that covered the black carpets immediately upon purchase.

..and I AM trying to decide on mud flaps and floor mats so don’t let me interrupt. ;)

Getting back on track, and also adding to the pressure for @IDK_Ram with more things to think about LOL.

Got 90% tint across the entire windshield, and 35% everywhere else. The 90% is marketed as "clear", and it's pretty darn close. The good thing is that I now have a 99% UV filter on all of the glass. Also tried out the 8' bed with one of my bikes. SO MUCH ROOM !!!!!!!

You got part numbers by any chance? When I look them up I see a few variables, and I’m not sure the differences.

These prices are from Moparfactoryparts.com - I use them because they are also my local dealer in St. Louis, so I can order online, get the internet price, and then pick up locally. Sweet deal.

Swung by my local dealership today and as luck would have it, ran into the most helpful gent at the parts counter…… picked up one of the “new” bed steps (got lucky, dealer had one in stock and got to use my 20% off birthday coupon). So while chatting/BSing with my new favorite person I inquired about the all too elusive tailgate dampener. Few clicks and questions later…….BAM, dampener ordered and will be in tomorrow morning!

Couple of other items I’ve acquired or done over the last few days: Went against the grain and swapped my black tow mirrors for chrome (thanks @Shadowboxin20), and my 5th wheel prep kit showed up (thanks Benny). Need to get to work, got everything I need so I can finally install the bedrug that’s been sitting in the garage for way too long.
