Dealer-installed Llumar clear bra - anyone done it?

The dealer is quoting 1k for Lumar self-healing clear bra, which seems to be a quality product. Has anyone had the dealership install the film? If so, do you have photos and are you happy with the quality of the installation?
 
I have never heard of Llumar (as I've always used Xpel), but had a chance to do a little research. A little curious as to how the paint protection is "self-healing". That being said...Llumar does have hydrophobic properties that some of the other material does not (i.e. 3M and Xpel Ultimate). I use a ceramic coating over my Xpel clear bra to provide hydrophobic quality. If the install covers the front bumper, partial hood, mirror caps, and down the sides under the doors...then, yes, $1000 is not too bad at all. Make sure they offer a good warranty on it. Llumar warranties their product for 10 years.
 
Yes and No. It would really depend on the dealer and their detail facility and the training of the employees. Don't associate the cost and their sales pitch with quality of their work. Doing the entire hood yields a better result giving you more protection and not having the 'line' where the clear bra ends.

Good friend of mine works at a Penske Dealer. Their detail facility services all the dealerships on the property (BMW, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Land Rover, etc.) He had them do paint correction and ceramic coat and he's happy with the result.

I recently had a bad experience with a professional detail shop. For some reason my brand new 3/4 ton Ram wasn't important enough to give the attention to detail that they do with the other high-end car customers. My truck is at another shop now, I just got the initial inspection and the Xpel looks terrible, there's gaps, lifting, scratches, and razor marks in my paint. They are going to fix it all and redo the truck.
 
My neighbor runs a detail business, I often help out on the weekends in trade for services. He has made a small fortune removing these clear protectors. In about 5yrs time they dry out, fade, haze, and end up taking about 24-30 hrs to remove gently. IMO its mney well spent to invest in a ceramic coating for the whole truck and not the DIY kit either. I never take my truck to a car wash ever again. it gets a sponge bath whenever it needs it. Sometimes a hose is needed if I have clumps of mud or grime but thats it
 
It is a misconception that ceramic coating help prevent chipping. It does not. Film do that. That's why film is applied first and then ceramic coating.
It gets expensive quite fast though.
I'll do film on the exterior. And ceramic on the leather.

LOL, I'm getting my truck cleared in the front, sills, door edges and all windows tinted for $1K.

That said, family friend cash deal... Still, $1K for a clearbra hood/fender is egregious.

Usually the dealer takes the sale but a subcontractor comes do the job. So both get their share. Therefore more expensive at the dealer. The only advantage is you may be able to finance it with the truck so that is less stress on your out-of-pocket money.

Also, some uses pre-cut films and those are way more expensive.

I think your local shop will provide a better deal than a dealer.

Hood/fenders 18", 4 door sills, 4 door edges. $400 for Xpel Ultimate
2 fronts 20%, rears and slider +30% on factory 20%, and windshield brow, all IR film $450

Friends & family discount.

Dealer wanted $495 for a sub to do the hood and fenders only, it wasn't 18" and looked pre-cut as the edges weren't wrapped.

My guy did my 2003 Audi new and the tints are still 100%, Clearbra hood, lights, fenders. mirrors still solid but starting to show its age. Not sure what he used then.

Most of it was 3M unless they went cheep back in the day...

I have it on my truck (also rocker panels & full hood), but have only had the truck less than a day. Hoping it will prevent the chips I had in my previous truck. I can't remember for sure what the warranty on it is, but I think I was told 10 years. The application looks great...you don't see it unless you are looking for it. I posted photos of my truck on another thread today.
 
My spouse's car and my car are both covered with F-Performance films. We are satisfied with how the paint protection film works, and how the cars look. The surface of the car body glistens, water flows down it easily and there are no streaks left.
 
I do XPEL they seem to be the leader in the market

I had my entire hood, side fenders, headlights/fog lights, front bumper, door seals done for $1400. Looks freakin excellent. Self-healing is awesome to actually watch on a hot day when it is in the sun...you can literally see fine scratches disappear. I simply use maguiars wash and wax on all of it.
 
Should have added, I did not use the dealer, I actually just went to the business the dealer uses...avoided the markup.
