Have 500 miles on this new Big Horn with 6.4. Has 373 rear. When driving on local town roads, and on the highway, transmission seems to "groan" only during "feathering" the throttle or during decel, noticed when the ECO light comes on. Lik
The minute I accelerate it goes away? Like it was under too much load?
In town, if I manually choose 6th gear as top gear, no issue. Hard to describe, but almost when blasting a song with heavy base..... is there a recall, adjustment, or flash for this?
Anyone else experience this, or is it normal?
Thanks in advance.

Wow!!!
I traded my 2020 Laramie 4x4 5.7 for this truck, never had this issue.....is this "4cyl mode new"? Did I not have it on my 2020?

Yep you had it on your 2020 its been a mandatory “feature” since 08 every gas trucks has had it, the 6.4 has a bigger exhaust and sounds different in the 5.7, i could not hear it unless i really listened on my 2011 5.7 then after i changed the exhaust it was really noticeable, thats most likely why you hear it on your HD

My 1500 would occasionally do it in eco mode at certain RPM levels/gear combinations. It had the dual exhaust that was noticeably louder than the some of the other factory configurations.

Basically, the 4 cylinders that are active are under enough load to produce the "growl", but not enough loud to disable the eco mode or initiate a down shift.

Should I assume then, to leave it in 6th gear around town to prevent this? Is the slight vibration part of this normal issue?

You had it on your 1500. I just got my 2500 yesterday, I don't seem to notice when it drops to 4cyl. I don't hear anything odd.

You have an 8 spd.
You can use the gear selector and put it in 8th gear and it should not go into eco mode. Not sure if that affects the torque converter lock up any.
Or you can just drive it and let it do its job and ignore it.
Or turn the radio up so you dont hear it.
