Morning Ladies and Gents,
Current traveling healthcare worker here. Myself and future fiance are looking at Laramie 2500s.
Planning on towing a 5th wheel in the next 4-5 months (gotta purchase both). But looking for ideas of who to order from with your experiences. I've built out a few setups online and have a general idea what we need.

Tips /tricks for 5th wheel setups?

Depending on weight of the 5er I'd look at a 3500 instead, especially if you will be traveling longer distances when moving the 5er. The 2500s have more than enough capability but you're gonna notice some squat and a bit of sway with a medium weight and up 5er. Aigbags would be pretty much a requirement for leveling the truck and adding additional stability.

Laramie seems to hit the sweet spot for most guys to get enough of the niceties like leather and a nicer dash (and even ventilated seats!) but if you don't care about those there is nothing wrong with a tradesman or bighorn.

BTW, good luck with keeping both your girlfriend and fiancé happy together in that 5er, I think most guys try and keep their girlfriend pretty separated from their fiancé/wife ;)

So air suspension would be a good addition for certain?

For sure on a 2500! And if you haven't been reading through the forum, In personally don't see any reason you would order from anywhere else except Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, LA. Unless you just can't make that trip and you live far away.

I personally dislike the factory air option as it replaces the factory coils. With this replacement you get 2 potential issues. For one, if a bag fails then your suspension has failed on that side. While I understand that TTs have been using air suspension forever and the likelihood of a failed bag is slim, it's still something that is in my mind.

The bigger thing for the 2500 is the fact that the coils are inboard of the frame rail. The bags being inboard means that you get less stability. While the coils are inbound even if not getting the factory bags, aftermarket airbags replace the bumpstop placement, which puts them inline/slightly-outboard of the frame rail. That placement is the key. With those airbags filled up, it will reduce side to side sway and enhance your stability. This will lead to more confidence in the truck and a better overall ride.

Could going to a 3500 just alleviate most concerns with towing. If prices out correctly its only <$3000 more than the 2500
