I need a nice bed cover but there are too many choices.

I’d really like a nice bed cover… one that sits pretty flush and is durable. A soft cover would not meet my needs. It is hard to believe there are soo many choices on YouTube. I was looking at the Bakflip MX4, but I see there is a quality control problem rant on another thread. Based on that thread I may stay away from Bakflip. Maybe a retraxpro, but the canister is big and takes up a lot of bed space. Maybe I’ll still go that way. What suggestions do you all have?
 
I went with the retrax pro xr as it has the channels to mount accessories on. Gives you the ability to add stuff on top (kayaks, bikes, storage racks, etc) so you gain some of the space back that you lose.
 
Should you decide to go the retractable route, consider the GatorTrax MX. It’s the same cover sold by Retrax (the was even some warranty paperwork that came with the cover that had Retrax’s name all over it) but you just have to buy it direct from Gator. It’s also somewhat cheaper than the Retrax. I know it’s a tough decision as I went through the same process. I first was considering the Roll n Lock due to the smaller canister but was not real keen on having to drill holes in my bed to mount it.

I actually went with the Radco version of it. Saved me a few hundred going that route. I hope he wasn't lying to me when he said it was the exact same cover. :)
 
I have the Bak Revolver 4XS, it is a different style than the traditional folding cover. I love it though, they have improved on it greatly over the years. I found no quality issues.

That looks awesome but the instructions are saying you have to drill into the truck bed if I read them correctly. Man oh man… that kind of money to buy this truck. … I really don’t want to drill into it

I am missing that part. All I see is a clamping system and no drilling required?

I'm leaning towards the Retrax as well, the one with the rails (I believe the XR ones). I just went and checked out the Gator ones and only see a lower one and the MX, neither of which include the rails on the top. Am I missing something?

Not sure where you're located, but check out Radco. They have their own version of it and they were on sale for 20% off, plus they're about $200 cheaper to start with. I think mine was $1,4xx and the Retrax version was $1,9xx IIRC. You can order from them online as well. Give that a look. All of the pictures of their version are the same pictures from Retrax so....

Thanks! Wow, 20% is a big sale! I just looked at their site and I do see the rails on top. I'll have to call them, it doesn't let me choose 2500, only lists 1500.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Maybe they're out of them. I went into the store here to pick mine up but it did allow me to select them on-line as well at the time. Hopefully that works out for ya.

Based on the description in your signature it looks like we would use the same one. Do you mind sharing how much you picked it up for with the 20% off deal?

I chatted with Gator and they are the same as Retrax…and quite a bit cheaper. However the T-rail XR is not available as a Gator… only with Retrax.

I went with Peragon on my 2022 Power Wagon. American made, 100 day trail with free return, $1000 bucks.

I looked at the installation guide and saw a bracket that would be drilled in, but when I went back to find it, I didn’t see any drilling. I’ll have to call the manufacturer. It’s a nice cover.
