Hello I ordered a 2022 Ram 3500 Big Horn on 12/31/21. I have not seen any movement and have been in contact with ram chat and dealer. The dealer informed me yesterday that it is not going to be built till July (then shipping and all those possible hold ups). So this leads me to some options and would like everyone's input. Current deal is 50K for my truck (paid 52K new) and 76k for new truck (MSRP is now 80kish last I looked) can not put more than 10k miles on truck (currently have 6k to spare) I use my truck to pull my camper and is my daily driver.

Option#1 Just sit and wait as is

Option#2 Try and figure out what the hold up is and try to resolve it to get it here sooner (possibly remove options or something)

Option#3 Cancel order and get new order on a 2023 (possibly somewhere else like Mark Dodge?)

I would advise option#1 for now but would shop online or elsewise for trucks actually on the lot in the meantime

I ordered from mark dodge the same day you did, received my truck last weekend, so the wait time is not unusual. Didn't really get advance notice of ready to ship and i don't think the dealers really know much more than the customer on build/shipping status. Not sure at this stage of your order if option #2 is even possible.

Option #3 is also unlikely, if you try to cancel the dealer would likely just keep your order in play, receive and sell the truck at a much higher price and try to keep any deposit that that you put down.

Regardless, prices have gone up since December and if you reorder now you will go back to the end of the line. You will have to ask yourself if you can wait another few months for delivery. Next consider if you want to reorder, is going to be a 22 or 23? You will have to wait a bit to order a 23 further delaying when you might receive your truck. And no one know what changes will be made for the 23's yet.

Thank you

Ive been looking on lots to see if I get lucky and find something really close to what I have ordered but have yet to have any luck. This is one reason I ordered the truck. I know the dealer would keep the order in the system and keep my deposit (If I went else where. Not sure if they would let me roll it to a 23 or not if it comes to that long of a delay)

I am still D statues. I see a lot of ppl that have ordered very similar trucks from Mark Dodge around the same time I did and they are being received liked you spoke of. I got told at one point it was cuz the ram boxes then I saw a guy order one 12/13 and received 4/20 MC Big Horn Ram boxes with 12" (didnt have sunroof or center console like I ordered) When I asked the dealer about it he just kept changing the why. At no point in time did he say I dont know. I learned on here that no one knows anything and ordering a truck is like getting a lottery ticket that you know is a winner but not knowing when you will get to cash it in for the big pay day.

****Rant*****
This whole system for ordering is a joke. I can call/txt/video chat anyone around the world but you cant figure out what the delay at the factory is??? You cant tell us how the order of the trucks being built get picked? The amount of money ppl spend on these things they should schedule a time and send you a video link and you should be able to watch your purchase be built from the freaking house while have a beer if you wanted.

understand the rant completely. I do a lot business myself from home with normal scheduled video conferences from several countries and yet the auto builders keep us almost entirely in the dark.
They are mostly stuck in the 90's i think. Including the outdated chips and electronics they continue to use in the vehicles.

FYI my truck was 3500 loaded out with i think all of the options except ramboxes so it would be very hard to say what might be holding up your order.

I agree with this, big time. Some peopel think they've got it all figured out, option A or option B causing delays, while paint C causing it to speed through. I'm of the opinion that it's almost entirely all luck. In my time on here, I've seen fully spec'd trucks shoot through, tradesmans shoot through, this that and another. The amount of variables is too huge to have any kind of idea as to what may or may not cause a truck to get made faster than another. All comes down to luck.

While I do think it's a bit antiquated, I think you're being a bit over dramatic here. They make something north of 1500 trucks a day. The delay is that there are 24 hours in a day, and they are trying to constantly push out a truck a minute, with parts coming in from all over the world, and then move those things all over the country. If you want videos of your vehicle being built, consider the likes of an Exclusive Manufaktur Porsche. Of course, that'll cost you a house. While these trucks aren't necessarily cheap, we're all nothing special in a system at that level of production.

This is also happening with every brand at the moment. Everyone is dealing with delays. An unfortunate reality across the world right now, but it is what it is.

I think the rants on ordering/production status are fully on point, across all brands. The automakers now want to order vehicles instead of shopping current inventory, but they have not spent the money to update the system to handle this. I believe there is a lot off the shelf commercial software available to improve this. And instead of adopting current technology (chips, etc.) they continue to use stuff discontinued by other product manufacturers.
