The factory anti spin diff is crap

Disabling the traction control (shouldn’t) ever affect the operation of a limited slip as it is an entirely mechanical system.

The only thing I could see happening is perhaps the traction control affects limited slip lockup due to the traction control attempting to slow the spinning wheel via ABS? Disabling it prevents this and allows the limited slip to operate as designed? Feasible I suppose.
I’ve had the same experience with the tractor control on my 1500 with rear locker. Got stuck in a snowmobile staging area with it and FWD wouldn’t get it out. The traction control was trying to prevent any wheel from spinning. My son told me to turn off th traction control and out she went. It seems like the traction control keeps the low traction side from spinning enough to engage the locker. Just my 2¢

If you have a 1500 with a rear locker, the traction control cannot work once the locker is engaged, since there would be no difference in wheel speed. Obviously a locker is different than a limited slip. Modern traction control pulses the brake on a spinning wheel which theoretically sends torque to the opposite side of the axle which is the wheel with more traction. That part is good. The bad part is that modern traction control also cuts the throttle, which limits the amount of torque that can be transferred not just with the traction control system but to any wheel. In 2WD mode, traction control can only work on the rear wheels. However, in 4x4, it should work on the front wheels as well. My guess is just shutting traction control off without touching your rear locker would have gotten you out, since it would allow a little more wheel spin.

They do offer a rear selectable locker like a Ford now, probably the Rebel has it and I know the latest 1500's with the "Off Road" Package have it as well.

If you have trouble getting the anti spin to work in 2wd just hold the brake slightly it will allow enough tq to engage the LSD

I haven’t had good luck using gas and brake with drive-by-wire vehicles .

I just use 4x4 when I back up into the yard now. I don’t want to fight the LSD in the yard, the whole point is to not turf the yard.

RAM has an override for gas and brake pushed together now, it causes the red lightning bolt to illuminate in the dash. Maybe a small quick amount wouldn't trip it. But applying the brake would brake both rear wheels equally, not sure how that is going to help the situation anyway.

You only get the lightning bolt if you are doing it while driving in my experience (boosted launches) when taking off it does not illuminate, you are sending equal tq yes but it keeps one tire from trying to spin freely so its putting power down to both wheels trying to get some movement

I always just engage the parking brake a notch or two...

Keeps the DBW happy.
Makes sense. I hate a truck nanny.

When I was using a static anchor point to pretension and spool my synthetic winch cable, I had a hell of a time figuring out how to let the truck roll in N. It would auto park. I think I ended up buckling the seat belt in the empty seat and maybe using the P brake as well. Been a while. that was pre forum for me.

What a headache for no reason, they should take stupid peoples licenses not make it easier for them to drive because thats all these “safety” features are

I had a funny story when trying to pretension the winch rope on my Jeep. There is a large parking lot with a slight incline near my house. There are big concrete pillars for the light posts. I went out early one morning when no one was around and put my tree strap around the bottom of the concrete block and backed my Jeep out to 100'. Put on the E-brake and started to reel it in with a little load on the rope. Just as I was about done, a cop pulled up and asked what I was doing. I explained and he laughed and said he had gotten a call from someone who complained: "Some crazy guy is trying to pull down a light pole". Then he asked if I had my weapon on me? Apparently if you have a CCW, it shows up in their records.

Funny, but factually misleading WRT CCW "records" in Colorado.

Being a shall issue state, and CCW issued by County Sherriff's, only the issuing Sherriff's dept. may have knowledge. It's unlawful for the state to have a database and there are no state maintained lists.

CCW sure does show up in the systems police use. I didn't know that until I went thru the ordeal to get an Idaho permit. Learned a lot during that. Never had a problem with any local police, sheriff, or state trooper - never even had them ask like yours did. I think the POW, Betsey Ross flag, and 8th Air Force emblem on my back window defuses any angst they may have. In fact I've had a few great conversation with law enforcement when they come up and see those stickers...not that I get pulled over often mind you. :)

If I ever get pulled over I just hand my license and concealed permit at the same time.

One more time.

In COLORADO, only the issuing County Sherriff would have any knowledge of the CCW and show in the system patrol officers have access to.

There is no statewide database. There is no list. It's against the State Constitution. If you have contact and volunteer that information, it may then forever be in an Officer's, Deputy's, or Trooper's report but it's not going into a list per se..

In addition to Colorado, I have a Utah non-resident permit (covers +13 more states for me). The state of Utah issues the permit and does maintain a database. They also regularly check that against NCIS records and will pull the permit if something pops.

Every state is different. In COLORADO, there is no duty to inform. Not so in many other states so it's best to know the regs in any states you travel through.
