Just picked up my 2022 Laramie 4x4 CC with the max tow package that includes the 30k hitch. I hooked it up for a test run and there is only about 6" of clearance (max) between the bed and the trailer body. Seems like there should be more clearance than that for when you are going over uneven roads, or even steep railroad tracks where it could hit the tailgate area.

Is that a normal clearance or is there something I could do to increase it?

6" is about the minimum, you should be OK.

6.5-7" is better but not if it puts the trailer over 1" nose high from level.

The Curt (Mopar) hitches have 3-4" of adjustment in the head to rail connection.

Do you have air ride?

YEs, I have the factory air suspension. I will have to hook it up again and get it up onto an even road, then take a measurement. I don't see any adjustment on mine.

I go to some pretty wild places off road with my CCLB and my 5th wheel with only 5” of clearance it was very close so you should be good to go for any on road use, i have to lift my camper so i can have a bit more breathing room

The head bolts to the legs and has adjustment. It probably came at the lowest setting. I have my (A25) set up one hole and run with alt trailer height and my setup is level.
Thank you so much for that. I will probably raise it up a couple for my first test run and then adjust from there. When they delivered it, he had to drive off the road into the runoff area since I live on a narrow county road so his truck was at a decent angle. I will have to do similar to get it our of the driveway.

If you're navigating ditches, etc. or running off-road, I'd definitely get that closer to 7" or even 8" clearance if you can.

It also depends how long from the hitch to your RV axles. You have more wiggle room with a longer RV.

If you use the alt height position, that will give you a little more clearance. No, I haven’t measured what the difference is.

I agree with that 7” minimum

I texted the guy who delivered the trailer. He said his hitch has three settings and he runs it on the highest one since he encounters all different road issues, such as my driveway situation.

I have my air ride hitch setup to just below the bed rails by about 1”

Air ride once you hook up and push the air ride button it levels the truck . I always unhook and it will go back to normal height automatically.

Your clearance stays the same the trailer would just sit level
Actually, according to the tape measure, using alt height mode does give me more clearance. Not a lot more, measured 1/2”. But I’ll take whatever I can get.

Perhaps at the rear only? The center wont change as the pivot hight does not change
