Bought my 2020 RAM 2500 Cummins to haul a horse trailer and am trying to figure out how to get the CP4 issue fixed as soon as possible so I can safely haul. Getting lots of conflicting information between the dealer, RAM Cares (Does it really??), this forum, and the HD FB group. Sigh.

Unfortunately going to have to wait till the actual recall comes out and even then I'd be on there being a considerable wait for the dealers to get parts/have time to complete all the trucks. Everything else is just here-say.

That being said I don't know if I'd be too concerned the mean time. Sure you hear about it online but there are a ton of 2020's out there running up the miles with no problems. Google and forums are like an echo-chamber of problems

Welcome BTW!

Thanks, Jetrinka. I just don't want to take the slightest chance of being stranded with my horse in the trailer, especially on the freeway. Assuming no accident resulted, and no matter what location, if he was still able to walk, I would have to be loading him into a different trailer after help finally arrived. Dangerous. Not going there.

Welcome to the forum, you'll find it's full of great people and good information. :)

Since the dealer recall is still a bit of an unknown as far as timeline goes, you may want to look around and see how people we're able to get reimbursed for having the cp3 swap done at an independent shop.

I talked to FCA Recall Assistance this morning. They said the only way to get reimbursed is to have a dealer do the conversion. I talked to Tacoma RAM and they are willing to do it and will apply for reimbursement through STAR (don't ask me what that is). I plan to get the BD Diesel kit for that. The diesel shop owner I was going to use was mystified by this as he's had a number of customers get reimbursed when his shop has done it. All I can say is that I get a different story with each different party -- my dealer, Larson, said it's impossible for them to do the conversion but if I decide to do it on my own, please get the Cummins CP3; RAM Cares (ha ha) says they can't help me in any way with decent information, a timeline, or any type of recommendation; and now Recall Assistance tells me the above. I would do it without getting reimbursed if I had to, but if I can get the dealer to do it and get a pre-authorization from STAR, then YAY.

That would be pretty cool if the dealer would do it for you. I'd just be wanting something it writing from them about the reimbursement prior to them actually working on the truck.

Welcome to the forum.
