I watched them like a hawk in my old 6.0 powerstroke. The differences on my Ford when not towing were typically less than 12° between the two, but could vary 30° when towing, oil temps would tickle 240° on long grades, coolant would max out around 225°, but would drop like a stone once the climb ended (typical flat towing temps were 210 for oil and 190 for coolant).....
This is my first Cummins (21 2500 CCSB), what are acceptable temps when towing and at what temps should I become concerned? Pulling a 14k gross 38' bumper pull toy hauler, summer ambient temps are 75-85°..... I noticed on a long, not towing, highway run yesterday with cruise set at 73 the oil temp was staying right around 200°, with air temps of 35°.
Thanx!

Well its apples to oranges but since nobody else has chimed in my Hemi's ECT usually sits around 220-230 and EOT usually equals it. Haven't seen trans temp above 170 towing or otherwise. Hot engine oil pressure about 30PSI in gear and 34PSI in neutral or park.

Surprised nobody with a diesel has shared.

Thanx, and no worries, maybe it's just not that big of a deal in the Ram world lol. My new Cummins seems to run higher empty oil temps then my old powerstroke, by around 10°
