Can you tune the steering?

I just bought a 2022 Limited 3500 DRW quad cab with 8’ bed. I love the truck, except for the way the steering feels. It’s completely numb compared to my TRX. Not that I expect it to feel as good as the TRX, but it’s terrible. I drive a twisty back country road to work every day and if I’m not paying attention I feel like sometimes I’m about to run off the road or cross the center line missing a turn because the wheel has to be turned 10-15 degrees before anything even starts to happen.

I know this thing has adaptive steering, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to tune it. I want much less “play” in the wheel before it feels like the truck actually starts to turn. Or perhaps there’s a problem completely unrelated? I don’t know. All I know is that it’s pretty bad and I’d like it to be better, if possible.

On a potentially related note, I’m planning a full Carli system with 37’s. Not sure if that will help or hurt, or give me an opportunity to improve something when it’s taken apart.

It’s just how a big solid front axle truck is. It drives me half crazy half the time too but there isn’t much improving on it. The TRX drives more like a car due to its IFS setup.

Big and lumbering. As someone else here said, it’s a meat cleaver not a scalpel

Most people agree that lowering the tire pressures when unloaded and having the alignment redone - setting the toe angle to zero will help

Had mine aligned 0 toe recently and much better, greatly reduced effort/wander/pulling.....

Kind of what I figured. I guess I'll play around with tire pressures and alignment when I put the Carli system in and see what that does. Awesome truck otherwise. Thanks for the responses.

This Dude, Jay, has a decent video, but there are several out there on the Tubes.

The night I bought my truck, I got home and sat in the driveway and dug through all the personalization settings. Somewhere in those settings was a way to adjust the steering 'response'. It did in fact have the ability to make the steering heavier or lighter, I could feel the difference sitting in the driveway when I changed it then turned the steering wheel. Shortly thereafter an update was applied to the uConnect and I have since not been able to find that setting again.

I had a bad experience with a steering brace on my second gen. It definitely tightened the steering up but it also prevented any return to center of the steering and the sector shaft extension kept loosening slightly.

Everything was aligned correctly. Found out the sector shaft extension was not true and was binding in the support bearing preventing natural steering return and eventually loosening the sector shaft extension. Threw it all in the garbage and never looked back

I had the brace on my 2nd gen and thought it was one of the best add on parts I did along with the redhead steering gear. That's odd how yours wasn't right and by the time you figured it out it was probably past any time to complain about it.
