Changing the radio station while turning - Do you have this problem?

I seem to have this problem where I'm accidentally pushing the buttons on the rear side of the steering wheel when executing a turn. A 90 degree turn at an intersection, driveway or parking lot but at slow speeds.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to disable those buttons?

While turning, not regular driving. It's the radio station button (left side) and my right hand it doing it in a turn. I would estimate somewhere in the 12-2 range. Maybe the 4-6 range too.

Your issue is pretty unique...I think I have maybe done that one time since my first
truck having the control on the steering wheel in 2014.

So if this is your first vehicle like that, may just getting your muscle memory to avoid those buttons ..it takes some effort to even reach those buttons when you want to...

You have bear paws for hands?

Iam gonna have to pay attention to this tomorrow when I am turning... I don't think Iam contacting the back side of the wheel... you know doing it cool kid style!
 
I have done this before but my situation is a little different. I was making a turn and I was trying to adjust the volume with the steering wheel upside down. I naturally used my right hand and it changed the station. Outside of this I don't think I have accidentally hit the left side controls.
 
What buttons?
I turn the radio up and down while making multipoint turns sometimes, stupid knobs.

Some models have the audio controls on the back side of the steering wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock positions. My 2003 Ram 1500 Thunder Road was the first for me to have it and have always preferred it over Ford having them on front. It's never been an issue for me to accidentally change the station or volume.

You are right, Bud...just looked. I had no idea, but think I like my last truck's (a Ford) better. Maybe I can get used to them now that I know they are there.
I think maybe I have accidentally hit them and the radio this and that, thought that it was glitchy or something.
 
So I've been paying close attention and I figured out why I'm making this mistake.

I was taught to turn the wheel hand over hand steering. On a right turn I ever so slightly start to turn the wheel to the right and then with my right hand, reach left and pull the wheel to the right even further. The slight turn moves those buttons to the 10 o'clock position and that is the area my right hand grabs. Somewhere between 12-2 my right hand starts to get a strong grip to allow my left hand to release and move. That is when the radio station changes.

Guess I'll just have to change my ways.

Lots of times ..... bit of a bummer if you were jammin to a good song.

I tried this weekend to do this while moving a 40ft 5th wheel. I am not able to to do it even when I tried to. The buttons are set back enough I couldn't depress the buttons or even really reach them during turning while backing.
