Some of the guys on the 5thgenrams site are installing wiring harnesses and the comma.ai to create an autopilot for the newer rams with LKA and ACC. There has been some mention that this could work for the HD trucks on 5thgenrams. Anyone have any experience with autopilot on an HD truck yet?
 
Comma.ai is pretty amazing. I had one installed on a Kia Stinger for a little bit. I had a 2020 Rebel that I was about to start messing with it for, until I traded for my 2500.
 
I joined the discord, it does work on the 2500/3500. I believe the harness would be the same for the HD trucks vs the 1500s. I'm going to try and pick up a used Comma 2 to try out.

I bought a Comma 2 off eBay and everything to make a harness. I should have it installed next weekend, i'll try and document the process.
 
Installed the Comma 2 today. I made my own harness which is pretty easy, the crimper that came with the connector kit I ordered wasn't the greatest but it got the job done. It was dark and raining here when I wrapped it up, but I went up and down the street with it which has some curves and it worked perfect. I'll report back when I get some real miles on it.

Super cool to see it’s been worked out for 2500’s. I had one going on a Kia Stinger for a while. I had a Rebel with the systems needed, but wound up trading it in for my 2500, which doesn’t have lane keep and auto cruise. Oh well.
 
Got the comma 3 installed this morning and took it for a quick test drive. Did alright; it couldn’t handle a few of the highway turns that I think it should’ve been able to. I think it needs some tuning for the 2500’s hydraulic assist system. Otherwise, it definitely worked well elsewhere and without error.

I’m running realfast/ramdev. I’ll let the guys working on it know and I might try the release version and see if it performs any better.
 
Would anyone have an update on the progress of optimizing the comma2 or comma3 on the hdtrucks ?

I assume you are still using the comma2?

What happens at 36mph? Is this (36mph) the minimum cruise control speed perhaps?

Would you still get the comma2 or better to get the comma3?

Still on the comma2. I wouldnt pay the extra for a comma3 but I guess future updates are ending soon for the 2. Lane keep needs to be above 35mph to work so openpilot disables below 36mph.
