Squeeking is most likely belt/ pulleys… put the video on youtube then paste the link here

I dont hear a squeak it sounds like a bad rattle

Whats the info on the truck

The fan clutch on my 18’ CTD had to be replaced at 5xx miles. Even after having it replaced it still would not engage at high altitude above 5k’ ASL.

Do you think I should drive it?

The fan is still spinning, it should be ok. I'd make a trip to the dealer soon, though. It sounds like the bearing in something is failing.

I took the truck into the dealership today. He said it was the fan clutch. Less than 1000 miles. He said he would have to order one and right now there is no eta on when it would arrive. He said I could drive it without a problem until the part came in… it would just make a grinding noise. I was not happy.

He called back in 5 min. and said they were going to take one from a truck on their lot. He said mine is the second new truck to have a fan clutch issue in the last 2 weeks.

I am very happy it’s fixed, but it sounds very fishy.

Not fishy. Very common problem. Had mine changed 2 years ago and if not for warranty would have been $527.00. Glad they got you rolling. Mine had less miles than yours.

@twinjayhawks or anyone else familiar with this...
I think mine might be doing the same thing but it only has made the noise twice, randomly upon start, but not immediately, maybe 3 secs after turn over then lasted for maybe 5-8 secs then goes away... Any ideas?

Mine came and went as well. I made a video of it to show the dealer because of course it was not making a peep when I got there. Mine was a grinding noise.

I would describe mine as almost a plastic in spokes sounds and not necessarily grinding... I've been remote starting my truck with my phone on the ready but she won't cooperate lol

Actually my wife mentioned once she thought it sounded like the fan had a piece of paper stuck in it.

Start the truck with the A/C turned on. It got warm enough here the other day for me to actually use the A/C and when I started my truck after that, it was the first time I heard the engine fan running too.

Well… after an apparent replacement by the dealership the fan is making the same noise again. Either nothing was done the first time or the second one needs replaced?
