I used it a little with my F150... it's OK... hopefully the app has gotten a bit better, but, I would have to calibrate the system every time I wanted to use it, and, it seemed like I only had maybe 5-10 minutes to do what I needed to do or it would lose connection. Could have been an issue with my phone (samsung s8+), but, it wasn't super helpful based on that issue alone... Basically, ideally, you could calibrate it once and go. With my situation, it was very difficult to get a reading with the trailer because it wouldn't stay connected.

I have read others who had a better experience, so, maybe my situation wasn't the norm.

This is my truck , driver only and full of fuel

So, this does all this through the OBDII port?

Makes me wonder if it is true that manufactures can tell if you are overloaded (heard rumors never knew how it could be)

This may be on my list if you guys give more real world use reports.

There are some good Youtube videos. It is hard to believe how accurate this gadget and app really is. I have verified the weight and because of the analog gauge the app uses it is within 100#

Now, I have a 99 Dodge 2500, a 03 Dodge 2500, and a 2015 Ram 2500.

Could I move the OBDII connector to each truck, or once you insert it it is for that truck?

Being within a 100# accuracy is better than, yeah, that looks heavy.

ok ... see now it is x1,000 not 100 ... old eyes .... @Billcf7 have you been able to use this to weight the combined weight, trk and trailer ... i have not ... talked back and forth with HaulGauge tech and could not get anything to work out for combined weight ..... i agree other weights look good ... and yes, it just plugs into the obd under dash .... the problem with mine seems to be my trk does not have any data saved to the trk for the basics need to operate right ..... you can do a manual setup but that did not work either .. they suggested some test for me to run, i did them following their directions and they sent them the data ... nothing ...... they refunded my money, rented a trk like mine to gather data and still the total weight would not work for me ......

I did a payload test with my wife and myself and very accurate. Have not had a chance to hook up snow mobile trailer yet

Im interested but it looks like it requires the air suspension to be disabled to get accurate readings.
Not sure how much that will take away from real life practical usage.
I'll probably load up the truck and trailer, then remember to disable the air suspension. "I'm not unloading all that stuff just to get a reading."

I searched the forum for Haul Gauge and found this older thread and decided to revive it and ask if anyone has been using the haul gauge since the original conversation and what the results were if so. Seems like a lot easier than putting trailer on actual tongue scale. Let me know if you have. Thanks

Here is a Link to one of these systems: BetterWeigh™ Mobile Towing Scale web page. There are some videos there near the bottom of the page explaining how it works.

I might give one of these a try after my truck arrives.
Thanks for replying. Looks like you made the better choice because of the warranty. I pasted a link to etrailer below. Haul Gauge and Betterweigh are the same just the warranty is better with your choice Curt. Mine should be here soon. I’ll let you know how it works.

I have the Haul Gauge, but have not tried it on my 3500 yet. Used it on my last truck, and it was okay as far as I was concerned. Not great like going through the scales, but if you already have an idea of what to expect, it does a pretty good job at confirming it. Trying to get the initial truck weight for me was a pain. I already knew the weight, but it took a lot of start/stops and resets to get the thing to show the correct truck weight.

I got the Haul Gauge early this week and sent it back after finding out the Curt Betterweigh has a lifetime warranty, the Haul Gauge only 1 year. Crazy since Curt owns both companies. I was impressed with the device. It was super easy to set up , it detected my VIN and away we went. I know the curb weight of my truck empty, combined with the estimated weight of people, dog and usual gear I carry I think it was pretty dang close. I haven’t had a chance to try it out with the trailer on the bumper yet. I’ll post back on results when I do.
