2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

About 6 months ago I heard Ford was discussing just this, keeping a minimal stock on the lot and going to mostly customer orders
Cadillac was working on the concept before the "pandemic" related issues.

Thanks, feeling a lot better today. My local dealership owner emailed me last night, wanting to talk with me about my deal ... I happily drove down and talked with him and a couple of the salesman, explaining the whole situation. It all went great, he even explained the whole pricing deal and how it works. He offered a much better deal closer to MD, but I told him I wasn't flipping again and appreciate his concern. I will still use him in the future and continue to direct sales his way. But ! I forgot to ask him if I could have my $500 downpayment back... I'll give him a holler back on that. I also explained where they went wrong and how they could have handled it differently. Being an ex Snap-on Tool dealer, a top salesman on the east coast, I explained to him what and how you close a deal, the way I learned and why I was a top dealer.. There is no worse feeling than the one, one gets, when they lose a sale ... I always made sure I made money, even if it was 10 bucks ... 10 bucks is better than no bucks.. One last thing ... there was a new Laramie on the lot, I finally got to get inside of it, check it out and all the options that come with a Laramie over a Big Horn ..... daaaamn, sure am glad I got the Laramie ... worth every penny extra I paid ... There will be no regrets from this buyer!
Glad everything fell into place for you!!

I'm really glad you were able to get what you wanted, that was the big thing my wife told me when we decided to order. Usually you just shop dealers until you can find the most options that you can negotiate into your budget, but you're still at the mercy for what's on the lots. When we began this process we were shopping the old fashion way, decided to go used until prices matched with new models, the wife just gave me the keys to the kingdom and said "get what you want".

I've had my 2500 for 13 years, so unlike some, I don't plan on replacing it in a few years. If you're going to spend this kind of money, you might as well get what you want.

@OfficerDirtySanchez I see the question mark in the spreadsheet (KZ? - 2022-03-09), and I don't have an updated POC to give you an official answer. I'll give it a couple weeks and reach back out to Sandi for an updated POC. I just spoke to her the other day and do not want to pester.

Of course this happens when my truck is at the dealer! And no let up in sight over the weekend. Wife leaves for a week after the weekend too for work. Dealer is 4 hours away. Plan was to pick it up Saturday, 80% chance of snow that day :s Blowing snow right now, these pictures are from today on the highways in the area

Maybe you need to see if they have ski and tracks under accessories.

there is a few trucks on tracks up here, mostly bush trucks, i know a guy with those drive on tracks too so he can easily transform to a highway truck. Almost every side by side you see is on tracks too lol i just run snowmobiles and atvs in the summer lol i do have an old 87 nissan 4x4 for my bush rig getting firewood and plowing my yard. bought it off insurance for $100 when i got rear ended with it. Would love tracks on it, but $5000 in tracks on that $100 truck, i cant do it lol. My Ram is a highway princess, i dont even want it in the rain lol

After ordering my 2019 and now this one, I will never shop the old way again. Same reasons, you get what you want, the color you want. The truck I bought before my 2019 was a late year 2016... there were 3 in the color/trim/interior that I wanted within 100 miles of me. I actually drove about 80 miles to make a deal, after telling the guy he better not waste my time, I was coming to buy... he tried to screw me over when I got there and I left angry... Ended up buying choice number 3 out of the 3 (ford, big mistake, I hated it, and this one was lowest because it had the old 5.0 engine). Anyway... when I ordered my 2019, the best thing about it was that every single dealer in the country had the same exact truck for me. None of the searching to see if you can live with something already on the lot.

I think some people think I am crazy for ordering and waiting, but it has given me the absolute best buying experience so far. My '22 will by the 6th new truck I have bought. Hopefully my time on earth allows me to buy another 6 or so and unless something crazy happens, they will all be ordered to my specifications.

Goes to show how wild it is. I ordered 9 days after you and got the sticker the day after yours showed up at the dealership.

tyler2you Bigsnowman DelRed22 we know it’s not serial. Maybe the parts allocation (D1) just means it’s in the system but not on hand. Maybe when some parts come in to Saltillo, say enough to build a fully loaded truck, that vehicle is then front lined because they’re expecting shortages. Someone here explained it las my week, and it made sense from a logistics POV.

While the military pay is consistent, it definitely never has never been enough to afford a new vehicle every few years or so. I guess once I finish the road trip, decide to settle down and get another job the retirement/disability pay could be used for another toy. I’d love to keep my 5.9 and have fun cleaning it up and keeping it running instead of keeping up with the Jones.

Have you been getting the status updates from your dealer?

This same thing goes around every few years.

I feel there would still be stock available. While I would agree that 4 weeks would be nothing to wait on a new vehicle, there would still be the instant gratification factor. That and if some dealers decided to keep stock then other area dealers would be “forced” to compete for business. It’s just cyclic.

I checked in with Ram Chat yesterday afternoon just for fun. They said my order was in the Trim stage and should be complete very soon.

I checked in this morning and they told me I'm in the shipping stage with no dealer ETA.

Still no equipment list so I'm not buying it.

Odd, I had tried to get my EL the other day to verify LL deploying steps (not on my sticker), and it wasn’t populating. It's there today, and I tried manually inputting your VIN for a search. I know that when my truck was still D1 and I did an EL search it populated with something along the lines of "No records found corresponding to the VIN provided" which eventually moved to something like "information unavailable for this VIN".
