Get the rail car # from your dealer...call the rail companies.
Dealer has been slightly less than helpfull when it comes to any info. do I call the company that it is on currently or do I call the final rail company? It's on a union pacific right now but the final will be CSX

If CSX is the final leg, the car will most likely be in their system and it should give you information even if it’s currently being handle by UP or BNSF

Both CSX and the UP system have the car in tracking. I just checked.

i tried using that number before and they said that number didn't bring up any info

UP says your train car went through eagle pass on March 4th at 7:54pm. Currently arrived at the next stop this morning at 1:07am (didn’t say location). Currently scheduled to arrive at the CSX interchange facility in New Orleans on March 9th at approximately 7pm

New forum member here! Placed order on 19 December, currently in JB status (already passed my estimate ship date lol)

Just an FYI for anyone else waiting: I ordered a 3500 Laramie on 1/21/22 from MD. Received an email from RAM customer care on 2/20 with the VIN and ETA of 4/7. I have been waiting for the widow sticker and equipment list to be available and they showed up on-line today, 3/7. Thanks to everyone providing info on this site.

You can’t access the information on their websites unless you have a corporate account with either CSX or UP. However, you CAN call their automated phone numbers (see post from IowaPW above) and follow the automated prompts. Input your car information where it is requested.

I just called both systems to confirm for you that they are active and tracking, and they indeed are.

You’re very welcome. I’m happy to help you if you have any trouble. I enjoy helping folks track these things. Let’s me relive the anticipation when my truck was moving across the country.

I didn't think that I was going to get to experience this part at all. My truck was origionally shipping by boat and then changed at the last second to train. Now I feel like a child checking my emails every 3 minutes for updates haha. If I call the number how do I type in the railcar number? When i try to say it , it doesn't understand and when I try to type it it inputs the wrong number.

Anyone second guessing their truck order/purchase with diesel being $4.50 a gallon or more in most places. In California its over $6.00 a gallon in some places. Here in SW Florida I paid $4.40 a gallon at BJ's Club yesterday. Everywhere else here it is $4.79 to $4.99 a gallon.

Be glad you’re on a train. The boat shipping seems to be adding a month to delivery times. The trains have been far more reliable.

Depends on which system you call.

With CSX, you can speak the whole car initial and number or input it. If you’re in a quiet area, speaking it generally works well but sometimes it can be touchy. If you need to enter it manually you have to enter the initials (letters first) and the format they use is tricky. Yours is UCRY so to enter that you would type in 8-2 (U) 2-3 (C) 7-3 (R) 9-3 (Y) then it says enter number so yours would be 0-0-1-9-5-5 followed by two pound signs #-#. It should then give you the location information. If you need it to repeat just press 1 again. It can sometimes be difficult to understand the location name so if you are struggling with that let me know and I can check it for you. I have a relative who works for them and he is able to decipher where it’s at (usually).

As for Union Pacific, their system still confuses me. I have tried typing in the car numbers but haven’t had much success so I just say it verbally and that usually works.

$5.35 a gallon here in PA. Not second guessing my order because I absolutely love the truck. Just wish we could get the price down to something more reasonable. However, I will tell you that adding the optional 50 gallon fuel tank has been a blessing because im able to cross the border into WV in less than 20 minutes and purchase my fuel .50-80¢ a gallon cheaper.

I'm driving mine a lot more conservatively than I was. I could easily spend a couple hundred a week if I didn't.

I would imagine CSX would tell you they are tracking it as pending until they receive it from UP.

Not second guessing yet. It will probably mean that I drive the truck less to work or running around on weekends and will use our other more fuel efficient vehicle. If these prices stick around, it may mean that we stay in one location longer when traveling as well.
