Auto exhaust brake

Also helps warm the truck in the winter along with the cruise for high idle..

And will high-idle up on its own.

I also discovered you can reach in and tap the Cruise and Set-/+ to adjust after a remote start without getting in and pushing the start button.

Pressing the EB button has no control over warm up it does it as it needs/wants even if you dont turn it on from the button

Not going to argue with anyone . Page 135 of your owners manual explains it all..yes you can control your high idle with your cruise and yes the eb button reduces warm up time..just fyi

From the 2022 manual - they are a little different. Apparently the 2022s EB are "SMARTER" than all you other years!

My experience has been that the EB button does nothing to force the EB to engage during warmup or allow you to disable it, thereby making it entirely automatic when idling in the cold. I don't know why RAM continues to put that in the manual.

Ok , this has me curious, from what I've read in the manual(21 and 22).. the variable geometry turbo kicks in on cold start ups. Not the exhaust break.. if you manually turn on the exhaust break it will also help warm the vehicle.. this is on the 21 and 22s.. I don't know about the 19 and 20s. . The exhaust break also helped my 18 warm up..
I've done this from day one on the 21 . It's noticeable on single digit nights when my sits out 8 + hrs while I'm at work.. I start the truck ,click the eb button, turn on the cruise , hit the - and it'll high idle at 1000 rpms. Once it warms some hit the + on the cruise and it'll jump the rpms up more... yes, if you do nothing the rpms will go up eventually.. all I can say is try it.

FYI, it has to be cold out to notice it and watch your temp guage..

VGT=EB - same thing.

FWIW, you don't have to press the EB button if it's cold, it will engage on its own.

Im in northern Canada i know all about the cold lol if i start my truck both with remote and by the button (not hitting the EB button) it takes about 30 seconds then it jumps the idle to 1000 then after about 30 more seconds the EB kicks in (annoys my wife and the neighbor then once the truck hits about 80ish on the coolant temp the EB kicks out and the 1000rpm remains

Decided to drive around in “auto” EB all day today.

I was NOT in tow/haul. Just EB auto.

Something is also going on with the shifting with the EB on.

It’s much more aggressive and earlier (higher RPM’s) when down shifting.

I got out of and into the car twice and forgot to turn the EB back on right away. And definitely noticed one the EB was back on.

Did not know that, so why does the owners manual tell you to engage it for faster warm ups?.. just trying to understand.. my 18 wasn't automatic..

Most of the time they carry over large sections from the older manuals even some of the 1500 stuff carries over

Sounds like its working perfect.

Glitch in the Matrix???

Several times when I started the truck the “Auto” selection on the EB was remembered and on. I have read that it must be selected each time you start the truck. Is this a glitch or just luck?
