Price negotiated from MSRP

I just got off the phone with Renae Jamieson from Mark Dodge. She is fabulous. Spent all the time needed to walk me through options. The MD price is >10% below MSRP. This is unheard of in WA state. No final decision yet. But definitely evaluating options.

If anyone wants a solid Sales resource at MD, I'd recommend Renae.

I'm in northern Calif and MD beat my local dealer by 3800. Made the deal for 11.5% off msrp, and ended up with 14.25% after Aaron found another 1k rebate at time of delivery. I waited 50 days from day of order until truck was on the dealers lot. I believe someone here beat that bya day or two. Mine was a 2500 Bighorn with not a lot of other options.
2500? which level did you choose? Level A or C? How much payload do you have? I have 2500 BH on order.

Will be ordering from MD. Hopefully soon just waiting on some more money to put down. For a 3500 6.7 SRW how high on the options on you think I can go on either a Bighorn or a Laramie that will give me an OTD price of $65000. Minus tax and fees. Will try to have $30000 to put down and don't want to finance more than $35000. Tax will be paid by cash. Would building to the high 70s get me discounted to $65000?

Is it as simple as going to the Ram site, creating the build, submit to MD, and if they come back to high for me go back and get rid of some options? Or if they come in lower than $65000 add some option? Sorry but not sure of the whole ordering process.

Build one of each online print it out and compare .. if your shooting for 65. I'd build one at 75..

Yes that simple - don't know about others - but I think I had about 2-3 revisions going back and forth

if you're wanting to be around $65k before taxes with their discount alone - $73k will be your target.

Had a BH dually with an ordered MSRP of $73,120 - agreed upon price was just under $65k

Level A and 1810#
Cummins,CC, long bed, and 50 gal tank add up.
It hauls my 16' goosneck dump which weighs 5530# and 7800# taractor with ease. I've had 7ton in the trailer before and the only problem was I needed to unload some of the soil with the tractor before it would lift to dump.
If I ever do get a 5th wheel it will not be a large one.

Excellent. Thank you

2 questions.
Do you get pre approval from local bank before ordering, just to be sure you can get a loan I guess. And apply again when close to delivery? Would this be 2 hard pulls on credit report being it can be a few months apart? How does this all work?

I heard in another thread the Ram build site is not updated to reflect what is really available and at the right price? How do I know the info is correct on my build?

If these questions should go somewhere else please let me know

When I bought mine, I did a couple preapprovals to see what was out there. But before I did, I made sure they were soft pulls. In the end my dealer was able to connect me with a bank that beat everything else and I only have the one hard pull for bv the actual loan.

As for your build, there is another thread dedicated to 2022 builds and orders with a TON of information. READ PAGE 1 FIRST - it will put everything into perspective.
But to answer your question, the as things have changed, the website is usually not updated quickly. The dealer you order from should be able to answer questions about what is going available. Once you are ready to order, t j.g ey can give you a POC that will list all options and packages with prices. You can review that to be sure it includes everything you want.

Question for those who've gone before me. When I ordered my 2022 3500 CTD HO Limited loaded truck, I was given a price about $95,365 which I have on paper. The dealer "told" me that the price may fluctuate a few hundred dollars between order and delivery. Well, my window sticker says $98,335.

Question: did the dealer lock in the original price?

I'm ok with a couple hundred dollars. Not sure how I feel about having to eat a $3k increase. FYI, I will likely pay cash + trade-in for the truck.

Well, considering your dealer is charging you MSRP, they’ll probably charge you the final sticker price. Mark Dodge was about 15% under MSRP by the time the final sticker price was determined. They didn’t raise my cost by a cent, didn’t even charge me their increased dealer fee.

The problem is, I discovered MD after putting $2k down on this order. I’m in Western WA and dealers up here are charging $3-$6k above MSRP. In my ignorance, I was happy to just pay MSRP. I did call MD and they ran the numbers for me. They could save me about $11k. However, I’d need to pay $2k to transport the truck to WA and I’d miss out in a $2500 sales tax savings with my trade-in. Add to that the potential loss of my $2k deposit and I’m getting close to the same amount without having to wait another 3 months. Thus, I will likely stick with my local dealer if they honor their original price commitment (another $3k savings).

Dealer should stick to original price.. he paid the original invoice price.. buddy of mine just went through the same thing, it took him getting up to walk on the deal but in the end they came back to original price..

This was very close to my experience. MSRP went up about 2k between the time I ordered and when the window sticker popped. Without price protection the price I paid increased by $145. When I ordered I was about 11.3% below MSRP, when it arrived I was 12.2% below MSRP.
I'm getting the last of the "old" MSRP ones at a dealer (Auto Ranch/Idaho) and it is identical to like five other ones on his lot at two different higher "MSRP" prices. So, three separate MSRP's identical trucks. Some are still in transit. He lists mine (lowest MSRP) as a "special" but the Monroney's' are identical as are the build sheets... I made the deal just before it got to the dealership here the other day. He had ONLY one on the lot in black (higher MSRP) and it was marked up 1K while mine in transit was marked down 1K less (trade in discount and I can get another 1K if financing through them/doing the numbers now). He also was offering a trade that was three K more on my 2021 1500 than ANYONE else. I asked my dealer and they offered to match but started at 2K less... He is competitive with Dave Smith and Dillon and Peterson up on northern Idaho and they ARE generally less expensive than anywhere else in the US for on the lot vehicles in the NW.

So, he essentially this dealer has the identical truck in 3 or 4 different colors (Ram Laramie 5 passenger sport, Off Road and Snow chief pckges) for prices ranging from MSRP 63,220 (Mine) to MSRP (65,030). I got mine for 62,220. I also pulled up a few build sheets to confirm.

Here are two Monroney's (window stickers) showing what I am talking about. black one. https://www.ramtrucks.com/hostd/win...28-957107134.1646393428&vin=3C6UR5FJ7NG229077

Mine https://www.ramtrucks.com/hostd/win...28-957107134.1646393428&vin=3C6UR5FJ0NG213609

Very odd, in my opinion and in general. The dealer said they are MSRP'd like that seemed to shrug over the phone. I looked at Monroney's and did a build with his zip code and they all came up on the RAM build site and his dealership confirming the different MSRP's and a new disclaimer I saw saying there might be a "significant" difference in MSRP prices at dealerships for blah blah... reasons. Strange times but I know I got a decent deal if NOT a Mark Dodge Deal... My local dealer is marking up 2500's by as much as 10K... Unbelievable.

I'm not complaining as this is a decent deal for instant gratification as it crosses almost every i and t I wanted crossed and all the core essentials including Off Road, limited slip differential, five passenger and the Laramie level 1 with it's bells and whistles AND It does NOT have a 12 inch screen. I really don't like it... I have dogs and it looks like an accident waiting to happen. They have lived with the 8.4 inch screen without mishap ( well a few nose schnockers) for six years...

I'm a partner in a consulting company that employs 200 people. We've been in business since 2006. I've seen a big change in the world over the last decade. It seems the level of greed in the U.S. has skyrocketed! I'm seeing this across the board from car dealers to massive companies like Amazon and Microsoft. The behavior I'm now seeing is truly disgusting. These highly profitable companies still feel obliged to lie, cheat, and steal their way to a marginal increase in revenue. Regardless of the impact these decisions have on regular people. I'm glad I will be retired soon.. My wife, my cats, and our 5th wheel are outta here! :)

I'm with you, but have a TT. It's like the world has taken a dive off the deep end... Definitely, not the one I grew up in. She couldn't have kids and we mourned it...but as time has gone by we are OK with it. We have nieces and nephews and the world they are growing up in scares them... And, she has already said... Well, if you are getting a 2500, what about that 5th wheel, you know the one with the bunks in the back? I acted like I didn't hear her... It will only work for a short time...

As long as you have a roof over your head, a comfy place to sleep, and a little room, all is good! :)

For you California folks, I ordered my Level 2 Power Wagon yesterday from Rob Trachtman at Tuttle Click Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Hyundai in Riverside and received about 7.2% off MSRP. He was easy to work with.
I have noticed that some of the best deals on like Power Wagons is out in California. Here in Montana, they have like 3K to 7K markups over MSRP. They used to like try to minimize it, now they just stick it in your face. Now on other vehicles, CA, not so much...
