2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I can appreciate that perspective, I am, or was a mechanic ..... recently retired .... and am not a wealthy man. Fact is, I'm selling my BUick Ttype race car and my Harley V rod to pay for my Dually. And, I had a 2016 RAM eco DIESEL ... great truck, but traded it in at about 35,000 because I was afraid of having issues. What I saw in my shop over the years was issues with hemi's cam and lifters, always seemed to happen just after warrantees expired. Not a cheap repair either. But I did trade that ECO diesel in for a new 2019 Charger Scat Pack ..... love that car. It's a Hemi! Now I've owned 2 Cummins duallys, never had any issues, to speak of. Look at the warrantee on the Cummins... it's pretty substantial .. My fuel mileage has always been great with the diesel too. The power goes without saying.

Bottom line, wish you happy travels with your Gasser ...
Still not completely set on the gasser. I look at Cummins every day on the local lots and have to convince myself I can’t afford it.

I've never seen Ramboxes on dealer stock trucks either. Either you love them or hate them. Dealers for the most part don't want to stick their neck out for unique stuff. Although right now there wouldn't be any risk since there is very little on the lots to chose from. It's a seller's market. Kind of like housing at the moment in a lot of places.
And I want a five passenger (console) AND Ramboxes. You almost never see both on a dealer's lot "NEW." I actually found one, in Montana, that almost checks off all my boxes, BUT, doesn't have anti-slip differential?

Glad to hear you were better informed.
Unfortunately there are still a bunch of folks who were in similar situations as you but were completely misinformed or uninformed by their dealers.

Ram definitely has a better hold on this process than the other two. I have multiple friends who have been waiting over a year for both ovals, and bow ties.

That is very unfortunate and I am sorry you’re in that position. However, that being said: if you look at the totality of truck sales and compare the big three, Ram most definitely has their game together far more than the other two. Look at the number of trucks sold and delivered through Mark Dodge alone in the last four months. The Chevy and Ford dealers aren’t moving trucks like that because they can’t get them. Period. While I admit Ram has their own shortcomings and things they need to rectify (production of sold orders in priority being one of them), they absolutely have a better hold on this than the other two. I was driving a 2022 Ram in November of 2021, as were many many others, while Ford and Chevy were struggling to get 2021 trucks built and delivered in 2021.

I convinced myself if I'm paying this much what's another 100 to 200 payment. guess I have to give up a few of my family sushi dinners out. which I'm ok with. twice a month at 80.00 is 160.00 worth giving it up to me for my 6.7 ho order money well spent tow anything I ever wanna through at it and while.its not 475hp like ford it's 425 and plenty for a big dd tow rig. I had a 99 f350 with 7.3 prior at 255 hp stock wo a tuner so gunna be a big jump I power.

10 weeks today since ordered. (December 18, 2021)

I was told on here that my initial D1 date was Jan 27th, with an estimated ship date of Feb 14th. I held my breath and hoped for a Feb 14th build date or at least an equipment list pop up by then, but that didn't happen.

So I reached out to Renae at MD for the first time last week. She's awesome! Estimated build date is now March 5th.
That will be exactly 11 weeks since ordered. If it takes 3 weeks from there to my driveway then it will have been 14 weeks total. Completely acceptable and still better than expected which was a 16 week estimate.

Still eager to see my EL and MONRONEY, but the next few weeks after that are going to be brutal. Can't wait though.

I just got back from my first real drive. I went almost 100 miles this morning, cruising hwy, city and back roads. The wife and I can't believe how smooth for a 1 ton it rides. Much smoother that the 3/4 ton Ford I had from work. Very pleasant handling going down the hwy, still staying off the accelarator till I get some miles on it. However, I was floored when I went to pass a log truck on the highway, I started at 60 mph and gave it some gas, nothing serious, but looked down and was doing 90!!!!!!!!! Yeehaw what a ride. It felt like I was only going 65. For those waiting either shorter or longer than I did, you will love this truck.

Got it back from Ceramic coat this morning. I thought it was good looking before, but now, it looks like a mirror shining on it. Window tint Tuesday and hopefully Retrax cover by the end of the week, then pics.

Gas mileage is another biggie for me ... I get better than 20 mpg on the highway and can do around 17-18 around town if I stop thinking I have a race truck.. I'm also a dually guy, towing a 32ft enclosed race trailer fully loaded down and now the 40-ft 5th whl 12,500lb RV ... road stability is the best out there. Sometimes I forget I'm towing something, look at the speedo and decide I better back it down from 80 plus ...

I think the main reason I’m trying to stay gasser is the short work commute. Maybe 5 miles so not enough driving to keep the dpf regenerated. Seems like that would eventually cause trouble for me

I just ordered a Tradesman CC 3500 6.7 SRW 6 1/2 bed. Unfortunately, I bought a 22 6.4 2500 last fall, but our camper plans changed so I pulled the trigger on the 3500 diesel. Looking forward to getting my truck. Dealer said 4-6 months so we will see. Order was placed 2/21. Dealer said they’ll keep me updated, but I’m not holding my breath. Tons of great info on this forum!

Guy I work with ordered a 6.4 2500 Tradesman back in mid October. He took possession mid January. Overall I think he was around 12 weeks from order to delivery. Pretty impressive in my opinion.

Anyone not been happy with the payload of their 2500 Cummins? That’s been another factor weighing on my mind

Yes, wife’s is only 1800#. Was hoping to eventually trade up to a fifth wheel, but not sure if well be able to without upgrading to a 1 ton.

Got a call from Renae at MD to discuss pickup locations. Meeting in Longview, just under 250 miles. She told me still on track for 3/2 build date, and early to mid April pickup. We shall see. She said once built, 7-10 days on train to rail yard, then another 2 weeks ish on a truck from Port Allen to MD

I ordered my 3500 Limited CTD HO on 12/2. I'm in WA state. It's on the train now and scheduled to be at my local dealer on 3/10. Things seem to be picking up speed in the last couple of months though.

That’s good to know. How long until you got a vin from your dealer?
