2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

What!!! How could you not .... an opportunity to buy a Cummins over a Hemi ... and be able to do it now ... DO IT!! You won't regret it ....
Mainly because I’m not a diesel mechanic, nor am I a wealthy man lol. I lost a lot of trust in Diesel engines when they started choking them for the EPA. Last one I had was always in the shop with emission issues. For 15k over the price of my hemi and the added worry about paying for repairs I got the feeling to stay with the gasser. Which is the same reason I left diesel to begin with. Don’t get me wrong I would love to have the Cummins, but I’m gonna be paying on this truck for a long time and a repair bill on top of a truck payment is not a doable thing for me.

How do I know if my order has blind spot monitoring? It wasn’t a selectable option when I ordered so I’m hoping it was included as standard. 3500 Laramie level A ctd mega

I pulled this from the 2022 Ram Spec guide.
(See pic). Not sure if this has changed. They keep changing the options based on parts / chip availability.

I can appreciate that perspective, I am, or was a mechanic ..... recently retired .... and am not a wealthy man. Fact is, I'm selling my BUick Ttype race car and my Harley V rod to pay for my Dually. And, I had a 2016 RAM eco DIESEL ... great truck, but traded it in at about 35,000 because I was afraid of having issues. What I saw in my shop over the years was issues with hemi's cam and lifters, always seemed to happen just after warrantees expired. Not a cheap repair either. But I did trade that ECO diesel in for a new 2019 Charger Scat Pack ..... love that car. It's a Hemi! Now I've owned 2 Cummins duallys, never had any issues, to speak of. Look at the warrantee on the Cummins... it's pretty substantial .. My fuel mileage has always been great with the diesel too. The power goes without saying.

Bottom line, wish you happy travels with your Gasser ...

Test drove the Cummins equivalent of my ordered hemi today and almost bought it. Trying my best to hold tight and wait for my order
My dealer tried to get me to buy a 2500 cummins they had but I turned it down as I needed higher payload as with the cummins I wouldn’t have enough payload for camper and family.

Just ordered my 2022 Laramie 3500 with HO, Blind spot and Package A. Can't wait. Trading in the 3500 I bought last year. Worked with dealership up the street and they have been great so far.
I’m not sure on the 3500 but my 2500 Laramie level a did not come with it. It was an add on for $595. I added it when I saw it as I have on current truck and because I thought it was included until I built at dealer.

In the same boat here. My current truck is a 2500 Cummins and has less payload than my wife’s 2500 Hemi. Thats why we use the Hemi to haul the 5th wheel but it is at the top end of capacity and you feel it. Ordered a 3500 CTD CCLB Laramie, that should make towing better. Plus 3.73 gearing vs 3.42 on our current trucks.

Yes the rear end will help a lot. My hemi I order I went with the 4.10s limited slip rear end to help tow my camper. If I was to ever get a cummins it would be a 3500. I just use this more of a daily to work and home and tow camper as trips get planned.

Hopefully your daily to work ride is not too far with the 4.10s. Fuel prices are going to rise. My commute is 40 miles each way so at least 80 mile/day. Getting betwe 17/18 mpg with the diesel with 3.42s. Wife getting around 12 to 14 on the Hemi With the same rears.

I’m about half of what you drive and it’s all eway. I’m hoping to get 14-15 average with the eight speed.

Does anyone have info on fleet orders? Seems like they are moving alot slower than normal truck orders. 10-15 order date and been at BG stage for months

I take it Laramie Level A doesn't have blind spot monitoring (the $595 option was removed by the time I built in late January)?

ALSO: my 18 tradesman had these amazing factory rubber mats. When I went to add them to my 22 Laramie there was nowhere on the website to pick rubber mats. Does this mean they come with them from the factory or not available on the Laramie? I liked those mats so much more than the weathertech or other aftermarket ones I hope they have them for the 22.

Depending on 1. how long ago you odered, 2. what your build status is, 3. your dealer, and 4. his regional sales rep, you may be able to change package or add BSM. I was able to make an addition about a week after I placed order, but it took another week to confirm change.

They’re D1, order placed 1/24/22 with an estimated ship date already. I’d say it’s too late to add something that technical unfortunately. This is another example of dealerships not clearly laying out all of the information prior to an order being signed and submitted.

Folks who are planning to order and are reading this:

Be sure to ask questions and confirm that the order will contain everything you want before you submit your order. These are unpredictable times and parts / chip supplies have wreaked havoc with availability of options. If you are ordering a truck and spending the money, make absolutely certain your truck will have everything in it that you want before you hand over your down payment and sign your POC (Priced Order Confirmation). In addition, I would check every bit of info your dealer is telling you with the good folks on this forum prior to signing. There have been numerous occasions where dealers are either A) unaware of the their product options, B) telling little white lies to secure sales hoping buyers will deal with the consequences after delivery, or C) are not being properly updated by Stellantis regarding trim / option / package changes. Get everything in writing and have it signed by both parties so that there is absolutely no confusion or surprises when the truck arrives. That way you have ground to stand on if your truck arrives and is not the way you planned / expected. That avoids the whole “he / she / they said this, promised this, assured this” scenario.

Do yourself a favor and do as much homework as you can before you sign!

This frustrates me.

Again.

Under no circumstances should anyone who’s spending this kind of money walk out of a dealership with unanswered questions about what will and what will not be installed on their sold-order vehicle, or be left in the dark about stuff like this. It’s a shame, and something that Ram / Stellantis really needs to work on.

I'll second that suggestion and add that Sales people normally have access to current package details that can be printed out in case there is any question of what is or is not in a package. Get the printout for future reference.

Yep. The info is easily accessible. They should either know the product, or admit when they don’t and seek answers from the manufacturer. Start with a basis of knowledge and then check / reaffirm prior to submitting, especially with all the package and option changes. The info is out there and easy to obtain. It doesn’t get much clearer than this for a place to start:

I built my ram on the ram site back on 1-31-22 i mean i noticed some things weren’t available that i wouldve thought wouldve been there but i assummed once submitted to MD Sandi wouldve informed me this or that is not available but i only bought a BigHorn so… and i didnt get any driver assist junk on mine.

currently a nationwide back order on the rubber slush mats…think that’s why they aren’t able to be included when ordering a truck…just bought a BH dually and after calling about 5 dealers found one that had a couple sets in stock. Mats are still good quality but not the same as several years ago…the rear mat is now two mats joining together vs one single mat

Just to be clear for everyone - BSM was not a “must have” for me in determining whether to order when I did. I was just curious if it did or not (which it appears it does not based on the timing of my order). I did not submit an uninformed order when I selected my options and knew what I was buying for the large items I cared about. The only item I’m bummed wasn’t available was the 360 cameras, but it was still a conscience decision to order without it since it was unavailable.

As frustrating as it is, I believe Ram has adopted the correct philosophy on how they are approaching building vehicles in times of limited supply. It’s frustrating and confusing with options that’s used to be standard at various trim levels now being options or not available whatsoever. But that business plan has allowed them to continue building and delivering trucks in a reasonable timeframe.

Conversely, Ford has gone a different direction. They will allow you to order whatever you want but if you choose to order something that is a commodity restraint (currently fifth wheel pre package, bed liner, black appearance package..because it includes the bed liner..etc), but it will take FOREVER to build. I know this, because I originally ordered an f350 in December and after 6 weeks I made the decision to cancel the ford and order the ram. I’m glad I did…my ram should be built around tomorrow based on my POC.

Glad to hear you were better informed.
Unfortunately there are still a bunch of folks who were in similar situations as you but were completely misinformed or uninformed by their dealers.

Ram definitely has a better hold on this process than the other two. I have multiple friends who have been waiting over a year for both ovals, and bow ties.
