Limited/Longhorn vs. Laramie headlights

Hey guys, haven’t seen this posted yet, but what are everybody’s thoughts on the two upper trim headlight options? So far, I haven’t seen a headlight comparison thread. I know the limited/longhorn headlights have added functions. But which headlights are brighter, or better at night?

I like the look of the limited/longhorn headlights, but are the Laramie lights brighter?

Thanks!

I have a Laramie with the middle level LEDs with reflectors. They are hands down better than anything Dodge / Ram has put out in the past. They have a brighter whiter light that throws down the road much further than any of my last three trucks. And when you turn, the driving light on the side of the truck to which direction you are turning comes on and lights up the corner for you. I haven’t seen or experienced the next level up LED lights. I know they turn as the truck turns to keep the corner / bend lit up. They are LEDs just like what I have so I am assuming their light is just as good as what’s in my Laramie.

It moves only 15 degree. But it seems to work.

Only demo I've seen:

Good question. I've not been in the Laramie but the LongHorns lights are outstanding. And late last Oct, there were three mule deer that were still on the hoof that evening when they likely would not have been had I been driving one of me older trucks.

No clue on LTD/LH but very happy with my LED Laramie lights. They are bright, clear with a good cut off meaning no getting flashed like the pos after market offerings. I also like the Laramies fogs coming on while turning which adds the same effect as the pivoting lights with hopefully less to go wrong later. My JK has factory LEDs and I don't think I'll ever go back to hid/halogen. I would like some form of heat from Mopar to melt the snow better during the occasional winter storm. Overall they are a huge safety improvement when compared to the other 30+ vehicles I've had in my stable over the last 29yrs of driving. About 10yrs ago I had a lil Audi A4 with the headlights that change direction with the wheel. While it was a nice feature, all I kept thinking is WTF will this cost to fix when it breaks(Audi owners understand)???

It's not really that bad on a 15 year old Audi. Reman and aftermarket parts abound. I've had work done on my auto levelling Xenon's in my A6 by my non-dealer mechanic (they only do VW & Audi) and it was reasonable. FWIW, I can also adjust the base level set position in minute amounts and do a bunch of other "recode" stuff using software and a coded cable much like you might with AlphaOBD.

Heeey other Audi drivers. I'm about to trade in my '07 A8L W12 on a 2020 3500 Laramie. Funny.

I haven't had a chance to experience the LEDs at night, but after having the turning headlights in 3 Audis I don't think I'll miss them all that much. They're useful, but not as much as a solid, bright light source to begin with, IMHO.

I just went from a 13 Laramie to a 19 Limited, I think the difference is amazing with the LEDs. Much whiter and much more distance, very happy with them

Sorry OP for Audi HI-jack! I only kept the A4 for 2yrs. By then I knew about excessive oil consumption, clogged up intakes, broken consoles, noisy cam tensioners, HPFP cam followers eating cams. I traded it in on a '12 Frontier which ended up being one of the best vehicles I ever owned. I'm hopeful the Ram is nearly as good as Frontier was. My '97 & '04 Rams were actually very reliable so I have faith this one will be no different. My '17 JK has been stellar as well. Now the '05 LJ and '08 JKU, don't get me started bout those two!

I have a love/hate relationship with my A6.

Been through the mill with the turbos - I was chipped and smoked one of them but it now sports bulletproof K04's instead of the factory K03's, a TC that wouldn't hold commanded lockup, cam tensioners, leaky valve cover seals/gaskets, and all manner of broken plastic bits in the (otherwise amazing) interior. It's also the Sport model so the interior is Premium leather bucket seats, real leather door panels, etc.

There never was and unlikely to be any issues with the 2.7T engine, it's a rock and good to 450-500+ HP tunes. Can't say the same for the auto trans that's only good to around 300 lb-ft. Those oil issues were the 1.8T 4 popper and largely related to the original spec to use dino oil. They switched after to full synthetic only and that's all my 03 A6 2.7T has ever seen.

Lately it's control arms (I'm at 100K miles) and a vibration they can't seem to find, which now means I'm in the hate stage.

I hope and pray the 2020 Ram is half as reliable as my 04.5. Sadly, I fear with all the emissions and high tech electronics, that may not hold true.

Yup -- looks just like that.

If you're going around a really tight corner the fog lights will turn on that in that direction. The auto-fog lights are great, but not as useful for driving on winding roads or clover-leaf highway ramps.

Going around dark clover-leafs or driving on winding mountain roads, the 15-degree tracking is awesome.

So your saying when i eventually get my 20 3500 drw Laramie, that when i make turns that the fog/ driving light will come on, on the side of the direction I'm turning to light up the curb

Only if the signal light is on. At least that's the way mine works.

Mine turns a fog on if the steering wheel exceeds a certain (unknown) angle without the turn signal indicator going.

P.S. I found another thing today I didn't know existed. Makes sense if you think about pinch protection in power windows.

The power running boards stop if they hit an obstruction (like your leg). This also works when they retract so I found a new way to keep them out if needed - like when washing the truck. Just rest a foot on one when closing the door and it will stop and stay open. Be advised - they will not retract unless you open and close a door on that side or force retract in the radio, even if you start the truck and drive off. I drove around the block after cleaning the truck (crazy it was 70F here today and it's going to snow tomorrow) and realised when I got home the passenger side board was still deployed. Quite the Homer moment.

Hahaha homer, that's good. Didn't go with the electric boards. Just was afraid with mud an snow that would be just something to go out on me, so i just went with the chrome tubes. As you know. That's freaking awesome on the fogs coming on. I never use my turn signals anyway, wich will be good for fog lamps coming on but probably not so good for lane keep assist jerking me around. That will be the first thing I adjust to be not so sensitive
