2019 - 2500 Laramie - 6.4 Hemi

Nice setup, sometimes I miss my 94 2500 HD 360 magnum gasser for the simplicity of it. On the 4X4 Offroad edition, what are the standard options that come with it?

Thanks for having interest in my truck, I love it. I also own a little brother twin 1500 Longhorn my wife now drives. I’ve owned 1 diesel and several Hemi’s. I liked my 2017 2500 Limited with the Cummins but it had a lot of serious engine issues early in the ownership experience. I also didn’t like having to change fuel filters at every oil change both of which were expensive, and also burning DEF. In my area seems like there’s a problem with people overfilling and spilling diesel on the ground and pump handle. It made for a challenge to fill up without getting diesel on my hands, clothes, shoes and in the cab. I hope the 6.4 Hemi gas motor will perform to my expectations. I’ve towed with both and so far I prefer the Hemi given all the reasons I mentioned. It’s very close with capability, in fact it has more cargo capacity by 1030 lbs and is within 2900 lbs of tow capacity.

I pasted the window sticker columns below that shows the standard and optional equipment. One of the best things about this one is no moon roof. I don’t ever use it and hate that I pay for something I don’t use. I’m going to order my next one specifically to my taste after reading all the posts on here by others who’ve done it and had a good experience. This one is pretty close to what I would custom order. The only thing this one doesn’t have is the auto level rear suspension. I had it on the previous 2500 and on all the 1500 Longhorns. It’s the way to go and well worth the money to me.

Happy Sunday and I hope you and your families stay safe & healthy.

The “Off Road” designation, what is the difference than a 4X4? I bought a2016 Tacoma 4X4 off-road and it had a rear locker and the crawl mode. BTW, that truck and my 07 3500 C&C was traded in for the 2019 CTD. I was just wondering what the off road signified?

I’m cynical and think it’s just a lot of money for a fancy decal... BUT according to the Mopar Insiders website it says...

The 4×4 Off-Road package includes the following…

Hill-Descent Control
Tow hooks
Transfer Case Skid Plate
Bilstein Shocks (Tuned For The 4×4 Off-Road Package)
Limited-Slip Differential
On-/Off-Road tires (18-inch or Optional 20-inch)
Wheel Flares
4×4 Off-Road Decal

Unfortunately you lose the ability to get the load leveling airbags with the off-road package.

I did that when I ordered my 07 C&C. I learned a lesson on that, Manufactures have the right to change options and eliminate options. They changed the floor level system, which I had to order the premium seating package to get it. When the truck arrived it was missing and was told it was eliminated during production, the dealer or factory reps would not budge on it. I was told I could always order it through the parts dept., Ya right, at $1200.00 for it. I found it on line for $150 through a individual that installed base modules and couldn't use it anymore. I was never compensated, and was stuck with the premium seating cost. The other negative is the art of the deal, they may give you a discount, but their not motivated enough to give you the best price possible, also a mistake I made. However I needed the C&C, and no-one had a C&C in a SLT or Laramie, especialy the options I was looking for. So unless its a piticular truck you need, buy what's close or more than what you want in your truck and get the best price possible. Dealers will deal on their inventory better than orders.

I bought this truck out of urgent necessity. I was fortunate it was close by and to mostly to my liking. I wouldn’t have normally picked the Off Road package option or Sport Appearance package. I’m quirky, I don’t like the giant 4x4 decal on the bed, I prefer a clean, smooth exterior and chrome bumpers but the truck just happened to be equipped that way and was in inventory very close to me. I love the Maximum Steel paint, this the 3rd one I’ve owned in that color. I’m a professional car shopper so I’m always looking to see what’s out there to stay current in shaping my decision for the next truck so I knew where this one was. It seemed like a great deal at almost $16k off MSRP. The dealership was very fair in dealing with us. I did most of the negotiation over the phone and expected games when we actually showed up. That wasn’t the case, it all went pretty smooth with only one session of our car buying IQ being tested. While it didn’t have the auto level it matched up with most everything else but so far I’m impressed with the ride quality of the Bilstein shocks. Once I put the weight distribution hitch on, it levels out and rides great. Who knows maybe after owning this one for longer I might rethink the need for the auto level and save myself a lot of money for the option.

I agree with your comments RVTRKN about the art of the deal and dealer motivations. I’m always on the lookout for a deal and use Car Gurus to see how long the truck I’m interested in has been on the lot. After 90 days the dealer has to start paying interest on their inventory so they’re more likely to deal. We’ve traded vehicles a lot over the years and are diplomatically ruthless when we buy. I try to be matter of fact, without emotion, balancing being a shrewd buyer weighed against pissing the dealer off. No need to sow bad seeds in life and you may need their help later with a warranty issue. The sales people are just trying to make a living like the rest of us so I try not to beat them up...unless they get stupid. I understand the dealers have to make some money so my expectations are reasonable but there’s limits. I never get emotional, if the negotiations take a turn for the negative we just leave. There’s another deal on another truck somewhere else.

My late cousin was a General Manager of a multidealer outfit in the South. He taught me the more expensive a car is, the more they can be discounted and tell the dealer to make their money off the next guy you’re not there to be a sucker. While there’s a lot of transparency via the internet on current incentives he said there’s also a lot hidden incentive money too. He said just get up and leave if you feel like you aren’t being dealt with fairly, there is a tactic of keeping you there to wear you down.

I think I will custom order the next one just to get a as close to what I want as I can. I may end up paying a little more but I’m sure I’ll bed able to rationalize it some way...I always do !! My wife and I are both planning on retiring within the next 2 years and my wife is adamant she wants to spend the first year traveling around the country towing our travel trailer. I’ve seen several others on this forum who are already doing that, makes me anxious to get out there with you. I’ll definitely ask for advice from the forum membership about their experiences before I commit to a custom order.

Awesome truck. I am looking at almost the same setup as you. Do you wish you had the 4.10 gear ratio on it? How is the 12" display for you. Thanks for any input.

I’ve owned my truck for not quite a year, 13k miles, and I’m still very happy with it. I can’t speak to the 4.10 ratio, I’ve never owned anything that was geared that low. The 3.73 does everything I’ve asked of the truck. My travel trailer is over 10k loaded and I’ve towed several times in the Blue Ridge Mountains on fairly steep grades with no issues, it’s served me well. I think someone on the forum said you can only get the 4.10 in a dually but I’m not sure.

The 12 inch monitor rocks in my opinion. There’s some folks on here who aren’t fans but I love it. The clarity of the camera and ability to set up the display for different looks is cutting edge. The UConnect software has had some glitches but they are fairly quick to push a remote patch to correct.

Good luck with your decision. I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you end up with. Post some pics if you do end up getting something.
