That diesel SOUND!!

It is very possible to replace the exhaust that is currently muffled with emission components (no actual muffler) with a exhaust that with a true muffler and lacking the emissions components, will sound quite similar to stock or even the same. The options are endless and you can truly customize your trucks sound level. To anyone thinking that any deleted truck has to sound like a cherry bombed rice rocket.. just know that this does not include everyone. Hell, I can bet many delete haters have driven beside and past deleted trucks thinking it was stock but in reality it was just a clean and reasonably tuned and muffler equipped free breathing truck.

No where is it ''legal'' to delete your truck but it was also never ''legal'' to do it when everyone and even the big names were doing it everywhere in the states and abroad, it was always just a ''do not look and do not tell'' scenario until the penalties that were always there started to get enforced. So yes, it is and has not been ''legal'' in Canada to delete, however, it is much more akin to pre CARB bandwagon here in Canada than the USA (maybe not in Quebec LOL). Lastly about this, I hope if you are opposed to deletes then you are also opposed to a cat delete or tuning your gasoline vehicle as well and I assume you support the bill to remove all rights to modify a vehicle driven on the road for performance.. @GPurcell01 already covered this elsewhere but please understand there is more to the story about cleaning up diesels than emissions on being so much better than a clean emissions off truck, consider why the EPA will not test or allow any data to be collected about the tailpipe emissions during a regen

The EPA has truly shook up the diesel community. Everyone is scared to say the "D"word these days in fear of being reprimanded, I can assure you over in the gasoline world people are rocking free flowing exhausts all over. I have been a gearhead for more than two decades and will continue to do whatever I want for the next few decades, despite all the Karens out there. To me its not about the power or the sound but more so about the reliability and efficiency...... clean tuning FTW.

With that said, a deleted Cummins wtih the correct muffler on it has the perfect tone to it in my opinion.
I definitely agree on the gassers doing it too, and I've got no qualms about lumping them into the same boat in my original post. And just to be clear, I'm not on a high horse of any kind. Hell, about ten years ago I had a Subaru that would throw flames when you popped off the skinny pedal. Was super into the VW tuning scene for probably 15 years prior to that, though not the TDI side of things lol.

But as I've gotten older, now have my own kids, and am what I'd like to assume as smarter and more empathetic to the realities of the world, wanting to intentionally pollute this place any worse than we already have just rubs me the wrong way now. We've only got one planet. And we sure as **** can't drive away from it.

Also you guys very well should know more about diesels, and their emissions, than I - which is why I explicitly quoted the portion of the post about rolling coal in my first post. And am largely excluding any specifics in my posts beyond that.

edit, to avoid creating a second post:

I'd have no problem, personally, siding with this statement. Though, I'd quip that the "modifying an on road vehicle for performance" portion starts and ends with maintaining emissions standards - common safety sense, aside. And I completely recognize my own hypocrisy in that, given the first paragraph in this post.

Dang I didn't mean to sound like a Karen when I mentioned the sound. It's just at my age i prefer the peace over the loud now. As far as snobby 55+ parks You got that right.;)
I was also just talking about the noise..

Great reply and I appreciate your honesty and giving some background to why this means something to you. I too care about what we pollute our planet with and enjoy the outdoors very much. As much of an oxymoron it is, I also hold freedom and the ability to live the way I see makes life most enjoyable for my family and I very important as well. I am much more concerned with the culture of today and the serious dumping of garbage and mass polluting into our oceans and un-controlled logging/developing that is rampant in many parts of the world but thankfully much less socially acceptable and tolerable in North America.. than I am about some good ol' boys enjoying their pickup the way orthodontists enjoy their catless Porsches. Anytime this subject gets brought up I always think that in real life we would have a lot more in common than meets the eye here but when talking inside of a ''bubble'' within the internet and keeping in mind the current media climate, culture and the times we live in today, I know that it requires some more thought on both sides to understand the history, present and where we are heading towards in the future by not being willing to go against the current and have a conversation on both sides.

I largely agree with everything you've said in this post. I'll cheers my first beer this afternoon to ya.

The only truck I have had that sounded like a jet was my 2017 that was deleted and it had to be cold winter weather for that .. Once it warmed up that sound went away.

Iam in one now... Both my wife and I are not 50 yet but we managed to get in to this RV park...I didn't realize the age restriction when we booked but they never asked so we went with it. We are the the youngest here for sure

They are all really friendly...had like 8 people come say hi while I was unhooking and setting up!!

Most people don't realize that even if we went net zero today....all the big pollution countries will still kill us!

Also, people don't realize the magnitude of how much mining will be needed to produce batteries for all these electric cars and drilling for natural gas... You have to produce electricity somehow.
Diesels and that black smoke is the least of our worries.

This part of why China is making friends with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Thank you all for weighing him on this. I too am not a fan of rollin’ coal and I hate to see it because it gives us all a bad name. I really was just inquiring if there was any way to make it a bit louder, like you can with a gasser just by changing out the muffler to a more muscular tone. I don’t want to sound like a jet but the whistle of the turbo tells everyone you’ve got something here and a good exhaust not just makes me happy when I pass someone or leave the line. All my emissions stuff will stay in place because it’s the law and I really only break one law, speeding!! Don’t get me started on that one!! I don’t want to piss anyone off and be that obnoxious guy but I just want to hear a little bit more of what I paid for!! Thanks again everyone for the interest views and opinions!

Well, since you're following the law.. it's a moot point.
