Probably anyone who has bought that kit could get us the part number of the wire harness as there all labeled. Problem is fca wont just sell that part #
I'd be happy with just the plug end part number to perhaps track down the source. I believe the right to repair act in just about every state prevents the mfr from restricting those parts sales. If they offer it as a repair part to a dealer, then it should be available to purchase. Tesla tried that and ended up getting spanked for it.
I've found all the cables and plugs you've shown Rich. They are either panel mount commercial, UK RV plugs, or the one nice double ended 12-pin cable is a video camera cable standard but the shrouds on the ends are not compatible with the push in connector used on the trucks.
The only problem with the Ford setup as I see it, is that their TTPMS is part of the cable and locates the TTPMS module in the trailer. RAM puts the TTPMS sensor behind the bumper (and one rumored to be in the cab?).
I have the 12-pin body harness pinout for the Ford. Not sure yet if it's going to be the same for RAM, but one would expect they have the same source and it's been done to some standard. I guess I'll find out when I get my truck and start putting a meter to it. I'll ID the power and grounds first, then work out the Video + and - for each of the two feeds.
It's not that hard to figure out, I just need the dang 12-pin plug. I've been getting by without a camera since I sold my 2004 5th and the wireless cams are useless to me due to their limited vertical viewing angle. I need to see my hitch or backing up to the boat, and over the boat (preferably close to the horizon). Only the 150* diagonal view cams do that. I had a dang 16 year old Audiovox (?) on my old trailer that worked great except it sucked in low light and couldn't handle high lux contrast (shade/sunlight) in the same image well.
My preference is to use a good commercial Sony UCCD camera but unfortunately the RAM setup doesn't also offer sound. Then again, the cameras that have sound give up some video performance (again, view angles) so I can do without the sound. That's what FRS/GMRS (or chicom knock off's) are for.
Don't they look at what's available on the market when they design this stuff?
