My friend just sent this. Seems the end of the Hemi V8 is very near. Brings a tear to my eye.
Just don’t come for my diesel.
warning! This video is NOT for the faint of heart. You will need consoling if you watch this.

I just don't see them doing this for the HD trucks. The 6.4L BGE could stay around awhile as it is only used in the HD's.

Most Every auto co has an inline 6 in the works.. the sad thing is there making it in mexico.. the current v6 is made in the US..what happens with that and those jobs..
An i4 is also comming out made in indiana ..I don't see it being a big hit when the i6 is available..
we are reliving the late seventies, high inflation and smaller more efficient engines .

Y’all act like some of the best engines weren’t I6’s:
…unkillable AMC/Jeep 4.0L, Ford 300, and Toyota FZ
…high performance Toyota 2JZ, Nissan RB26, BMW S5x series
…oh and Cummins!

The Gen 3 Hemi is pretty ancient engine platform at this point. Sure it produces good power, but it’s super inefficient.

I for one, welcome our new I6 Overlords.

Me too.

While I do get a bit of a giggle from the V8 hemi sounds when I floor it, the gas mileage is absolutely abysmal. Give me a smaller motor with comparable power, and a nice bump in fuel economy, and I'll be completely happy - assuming it's reliable. I don't need to aggressively burn fuel to enjoy my vehicle or feel cool.

Plus twin snails opens up a whole new world of tuning for the gassers.

Get a Diesel - you don't have to be aggressive to get 9MPG.

Lol, truth be told I was actually looking into getting one when I was truck shopping, for no real reason beyond I just kinda like diesel trucks. But I ultimately decided against it largely due to how much of my driving is pretty short distance (day care, local stores, etc). I would have liked the turbo noises though.

My first gas I6.

I-6 is a great engine setup - very balanced and usually have a great torque curve. My only concern with the engine, as is with any other manufacturer trying to reach EPA fuel economy goals going about it the same way (yes you Ford....) is the added complexity of all the control devices and turbochargers. One reason I opted for and like my Hemi is I have a good chance of fixing smaller problems in the parking lot of a parts store - not so much with all these new-fangled direct injected, variable vane turbos, VCT, VVT, likely DOHC timing chain, etc etc. You get my point. I am a fan of simplicity.

It can not sound mechanically any worse than the 6.4's...I wonder if the trucks will get a V8 more like the new Ford Gasser. I have had a couple of Ford 300 6's and those things were smooth nice gutless motors :) Of course no turbos to help things along lol..

They'll have to simulate the hemi tick and the exhaust squeak like the fake exhaust on the V6 Raptor.

I-6 is an excellent engine in most forms, Cummins and 225 slant 6 are good examples. However, I just love the sound of my 2021 Durango RT Hemi at WOT!
