Why do people like cab/clearance lights so much?

I just think they look cool as hell. I always thought the big tractor trailer trucks looked super cool when all shined up at night with the lights on when I was a kid. While I don't want to add a ton of wanna be chicken and side lighting, I do think they look cool and add a little touch.

If you have a slide-in camper the antenna might be in the way at the rear of the cab.

They look great to me, really nice the way it blends with the antennas. Trucks without them just look like they are missing something to my eye. Extra visibility is nice too.

The cab roof lights don't bother me . I owned class 8's trucks for 35 years they had to have them . I personally do not have them but that's me , What I hate looking at are the antennas on the front of the roof . They are Ugly !!! Why they are not in the rear like a 1500 or a Ford is beyond me . They could at at least paint them so they blend in . With the roof lights they are somewhat hidden . They really stand out on a white trucking look like crap !
Agree 100%. Main reason I checked that box. The antennas look like dog poop on a newly pored sidewalk .

I like chrome and I like lights and I still get excited when I see a blinged out semi on the highway all lit up. So I ordered mine with the cab lights to give myself a little thrill when I take her for a drive after dusk.

didnt want them but hey were on my truck, now glad for them they look great on my first HD truck.May get them color matched along with the stupid shark fin

Well…. I am a farmer so I guess I am good to go.:) But I don’t raise any chickens so I guess none on the valence for me:oops: :p.

I never really understood why people want them. I know if your rig is over 80" wide they are required per NHTSA but we are just under that so no real legal reason to run them (except duallies). Mirrors and flares don't count towards the 80"'s either. Power Wagons come with them but I wish mine did not. pain to wax around and one more place for water to leak in. I know they help on coming traffic judge your width but when I meet a full size truck I am seeing their headlights not looking at the tops of their cabs. Is there more compelling reasons I am missing? thanks.
If you have to ask. You don't get it. ;-)>

that is true, I don't get it. I wish my power wagon did not have them. I would take a smooth top any day. I have to say I have been driving since the early 70's and don't ever recall seeing a rig coming at me with clearance lights on the top and thinking to myself "man I need to have some of those" but obviously i am in the minority and I am ok with that.

When you think of them objectively, they make no sense. What do they do to make the road safer? Anything over 80 inches others than the Ford Raptor would require it to be a commercial vehicle. I'm still a little fuzzy on why the government mandated this mark of shame for pick-ups is beyond me.

Well they are optional. Like colors everyone has their opinion. Even if those of you that don’t like them are wrong. I still respect your ability to be wrong.
they are not optional on the Power Wagon they force us to conform....the nerve.
