Call your dealer. Something seems wrong here. I ordered mine on 12/2 and had an email indicating "the factory picked up my order and assigned a VIN" on 12/4. I just hit D1.Ordered a limited in October. Still no VIN.

I could see it online too.Interesting. Were you able to see it on the online builder? Or was it something only the dealer could add?
Good luck with the order. My dealer told me 6 months at least.. I am really hoping it’s more like 3-4 months. Nice to see trucks moving a lot closer to the 12 week mark and certainly hope that’s the same for Canada orders. Dealer told me he expects to have a VIN by the end of Feb.. let’s see.I don’t know if it’s by region / Prov but the option was available on the build site and dealer ordered. I’m hoping to get some answers today whether to keep this build or cancel and reorder another package
As I understand it, unlike US orders, Canadian orders dont get their VIN numbers when orders are placed, possibly not until truck is in build stage - so you might not see VIN for a month or more like 2 months.First time poster and also from Canada. I put my order in for a 3500 Bighorn Night Edition on 22-01-13 and no VIN to date. I played Ram Chat and managed to have one of the agents advise that “Order Passed Edit” meaning one of two things. It will go to schedule or will not go to schedule from what I understand. Beyond frustrated with not having a VIN assigned to date so I at least know I will in the future have a truck coming.
keep your 2500 you seem haply with it. don't settle on the 3500 when it's built you will regret it. if you do end up getting it only buy it if they give you a smoking hot deal to make it worth your while. I don't play dealer games. I used to work for one as a technician. get what is going to make you happy. it's a lot of money to spend on a just ok truck for you. since you know hpw you wanted it. it will never leave your mind. maybe wait till everything elbows out and trade in or sell the 2500 for the new 3500 in a few years. hope this helps you a little.Glad it worked out that way for you congrats on the limited. I was told by MD when I chatted with them to maybe reorder a week ago and told them about my experience with my 9/20 order. Was told since it’s been more then 120 days the dealer is not penalized for sold order not being taken by person it was for. so your dealer will be fine to sell that truck right away. Just info I was given because I’m kinda in same boat in a way found a 2500 optioned what I wanted my dealer to order me in a 3500 sitting on a lot with 3 others all different colors to choose from. Yes the 3500 has different suspension and I did order a HO just because I figured why not but dealer made mistake with an option that kicked out my level 1 I wanted for the stereo upgrade and also added the 4 camera and also will come with single camera all for trailers around $2500 of mistakes and I don’t get level 1 if I take my ordered truck. So now I’m trying to decide 2500 with all the options I wanted or 3500 to have the HO but loose all the level 1 options besides the digital rear view mirror such a tough choice.
I got my VIN a couple of weeks after ordering ... well before build. As I understand it, unlike US orders, Canadian orders dont get their VIN numbers when orders are placed, possibly not until truck is in build stage - so you might not see VIN for a month or more like 2 months.
Thanks and hope it’s still a go with the Night Edition but who knows. Dealer said 16 weeks on average at time of order expecting deli every sometime in mid April / early May. I sent him an email last night and he’ll be looking into it with the manager this morningGood luck with the order. My dealer told me 6 months at least.. I am really hoping it’s more like 3-4 months. I have a friend that I trust in the car business who says when this happens usually the dealer doesn't have allocation from the manufacturer to add another truck order. They will tell you they do to get the sale, they will put you in their system, but it could be months before you actually get a firm order moving ahead with Ram because the dealer is waiting on allocation. When I ordered my Laramie in December I had a VIN the next day.Ordered a limited in October. Still no VIN.
Wowwwww .... that's lame.I have a friend that I trust in the car business who says when this happens usually the dealer doesn't have allocation from the manufacturer to add another truck order. A friend of mine was pursuing an order from the local GMC dealer and someone he knows that works there told him off the record that he should look elsewhere, because he would be waiting extra long due to that dealer not having any available allocations.
Just a thought. I'd be willing to bet if you put another order in with the right dealer you would have a VIN very quickly, like most on here are saying you should.
Don't be surprised if the Longhorn doesn't pass the Laramie. There have been a few trucks on this forum that have went back to D status from D1 status. As you said it's a crap shoot. I still think the odds are in you favor for the Longhorn being delivered first. The only thing that could mess it up in my opinion is a big increase in Longhorn and Limited orders.I also order a Laramie on 9/18 and realized later that the Level D package was not higher than the Level B and in fact was missing all the tech I wanted. Called dealer only to find that I had to go to Longhorn to get them. Reordered 10/20. First truck went D1 yesterday. Longhorn is still D. The whole process is a crap shoot.

There have been Canadians who have managed that feat - but there are others who have not - glad for you.I got my VIN a couple of weeks after ordering ... well before build.
What happened to you is why I always sit down with a sales manager and sometimes the salesman that approached me will sit down with us during the ordering process. When it's all done we check my list with his order on the computer before he hits the enter key. I don't trust anybody to get it right. In most cases there are three or four customers that they are working with and if you're not watching every move on the computer it will get messed up. With all the trucks that I have ordered over the years I have caught a few deal breaking mistakes before they actually happened.Glad it worked out that way for you congrats on the limited.
