Hi all!
I have the 2022 Ram 2500 Tradesman with the Snow Chief pkg - which includes the 220A alternator. The problem is, howefer, that with the plow, lights, rear-facing aux lights, etc on at the same time, it is overtasking even THAT alternator. Does anyone know if there’s a higher load alternator available that wouldn’t void warranty?

Switch to LED and you should have no issue Unless you never stop moving your plow, you could always set up for the oem dual alternator i have 440A with the dual alts

They are LED, but still draw about 80w.
Those + plow + heater are overtasking the 220A. The way I can tell is that sometimes when I raise the plow, the heater loses some power & the apple car play disconnects.

It would go in to battery saver mode if that was the case and you would get the info on the dash…. Cycle your evic to the alternator gauge and you should see it wont drop below 12v There is a truck my buddy has with both a front and rear plow plus a ton of lights with the hemi and 180amp alt and it has no issues keeping up

Side note i have dual 220A and my heater will slow a touch when i raise/ move my plow

80W is only like 6 amps. Pretty minimal draw. Not sure how much your plow uses, but the alternator should be able to keep up decently if it’s not constantly being moved around. I suspect something else is going on.

My winch pulls like 400+ amps at max draw, and while most pulls aren’t at max load, it’s still substantially taxing on the battery…My 180amp* was unable to keep up on longer pulls (can watch voltage drop down to like 11V) but give it a minute rest and alls well.
*I ended up installing the oem 220A alternator Not for the extra 40amps max but because it produces way more amps at a lower rpm.
