Spare tire on a C&C 3500

Newbie here and first post. I've owned Rams most my life and I'm getting ready to order a 2022 3500 cab & chassis but had a question on the spare tire. It looks like a spare is optional and if I were to add it, it is not mounted underneath like a regular model truck with a bed. I'm struggling to understand why it can't be mounted underneath. Isn't the configuration the same just w/o a bed?

Unless you option for a midship fuel tank (normal location) , the C&C have a fuel tank where the spare would go on a standard truck, see attached pic.
