2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

For those that have older orders still sitting out there, how often do you pester your salesperson? I’m coming up on my 7 month orderversary and I have a rapid email exchange with him once a month currently and it feels like that annoys him.

When I first ordered I told myself I would contact my sales guy once a month. Well the first month went by and I hadnt heard from him, was a bit annoyed because they said they would update me if it left BG status right away, so I decided to wait another month. Well a week later after just waiting one month I heard from my sales guy, turns out he was off work 10 days because he was exposed to covid and was apologizing for not contcting me sooner before I even had a chance to reply!! So I would of jumped the gun on being mad, he updated me that my truck is D1 status, and said next update will be when its built. I think once a month is sufficient, or ask him to update you on any progress. If he fails to do that, hound him more, or start calling the sales manager instead for updates!

Yea, that's a different situation there. That guy you were dealing with was trying to extort money from you. I'm only trying to get good customer service which the salesman should already be trying to put forth maximum effort towards.
I had that same issue with one of my salesman. Ended up going to the dealer to call them out on all the games they were trying to play with me. So they sent a different salesman my way that’s been alittle more helpful

Welp, After a lot of reading from what everyone has said, I have definitely been one of the super lucky ones. You can mark me Green. 11-10-21 order and delivered to the dealer today. Hope to pick up on Saturday. The wife snapped a picture of it on her way home this evening.

I have had to text my salesman for every update. Kind of aggravating when he said he would keep me informed on the progress.

Yep, good salesman keep an eye on their sold orders and check in with the client.
It is a now business though and very busy. Most days I don’t even get to eat my box lunch.
I appreciate this group as you’ve all greatly helped my product knowledge.

It’s nice to see all the trucks that are being delivered lately!!!! Just wish mine been a better experience like a majority on here have. I feel my dealer hasn’t made it that good either no communication no effort to correct things. No matter what I did score a nice truck off the lot no not the HO I ordered but it’s a nice truck

Congrats!

Where do you live & What dealer did you use?

Anyone have their truck go to Granger Motors in Iowa that can provide their actual shipping duration from KZ status to truck arrival? I just found out I am KZ as of this morning.

A lot of factors can come into play. Should not take that long. I am in OK and it took from the end of Dec to Yesterday (3 weeks or so). I had a wait at the rail yard due to needing a full load going to the dealership. I would bet in 3 weeks or so you should have your truck

7 months? Wow, I feel for your brother. I contacted my salesman by text about once a month until I went to it being built. Sometimes he texted me, sometimes I would contact him. When the truck was shipped it was SO HARD not to want to contact him every other day.

usually new car sales only pay a flat fee ($200-300) because the dealers aren't making money (on paper) as compared to the invoice and then they get a "bonus" from the manufacturer (used to be an annual bonus - now most have changed to paying the bonus quarterly as the newbies couldn't make it the full year to get the first bonus...bonus can be a couple hundred/vehicle sold)

when cars started selling at sticker - that means the flat fee went out the window...say a vehicle has a $3k markup over invoice, so the salesman is paid a commission on the $3k profit - usual commission is 30% - so that new car sale that used to pay a flat couple hundred is now paying $900 - and i'd guess the salesman still gets the "corporate bonus". Add another $5k on top of MSRP and the salesman is paid on an $8k profit...we see where this is going....

local salesman said our hometown dealership (Chevy/GMC) which I'd consider a medium size dealership - told them that their approach was going to be sticker for locals/in state deals and over sticker for out of state deals…said the dealership understood that this approach was essentially taking money out of their pockets...but they are also looking at the optics of the situation...depends on which side of the fence you're on

the guy giving you $10k off sticker isn't making a ton off that sale - he's just hoping for the quantity/volume

just my thoughts after trying my hand at selling for 6 months back when a $4k rebate wasn’t uncommon..liked my weekends too much

Anyone hear of a 10 day limit for the transport company to deliver the truck to the dealer? Mines been waiting for 14 days and the dealer just keeps saying they only had 10. Hopefully shows up this week I guess.

30%? I need to ask for a raise! I can ask for anything on my last day, right?
Mostly accurate but per vehicle we make less now than you might think. Rare to see sales incentives on anything that’s actually on your own lot. Volume incentives are gone, basically. Market adjustment dealers are ruining the used market. Smaller to midsize, rural dealership. We’re MSRP to keep the lights on. Non-refundable deposits to hold a vehicle until you get there. Not that I'd sell to anyone on this forum. I've lurked long enough to know better. :D

Thanks, 3 weeks wouldn’t be too bad. Fingers crossed!
