Remove front bumper air dam

The air dam also serves as an intercooler guard. If you remove it notice how vulnerable the intercooler is. The CJC Intercooler guard is a good idea, a must IMO.
I disagree it would be difficult to hit the intercooler the way these trucks are my older trucks had wide open spots in the bumper never had anything hit my rad or inter cooler to hurt it if it was an offroad truck i think it would be a must thats about it

What's up with the compatibility brackets?
I have a 3500 and I see the CJC Intercooler Guard is a bit more expensive for a 3500 because of plow mounts.

@Dave88LX they provide 3500 owners the compatibility brackets and the extra hardware to mount the guard.
Yeah it just stinks it's $320 for the 2500 and $415 for the 3500 with plow mounts that I don't care about.

they are not plow mounts idk why they call them that, you could make some brackets to mount it to instead if you have any metal kicking around

also removed air dam and installed cjc guard on 2019 2500 MC 6.7. considerably easier to slide under and get to pan for oil change.

What's different between the 2500 and 3500 front in regards to the intercooler and how the CJC intercooler guard mounts?

2500 have the compatibility brackets. The 3500s don't. The back of the CJC guard mounts to the brackets. You need to add them to the 3500 to get it to mount.

I've removed mine and put on the CJC Intercooler guard. Really cleans up the front end. Haven't noticed any MPG decrease or any increase in noise.
Same here. An immediate visual upgrade when you pull that huge piece of plastic off. For what it's worth, removing the lower faring and installing the CJC intercooler guard helped with my install of the CJC/Baja Designs Squadron fog kit. HUGE difference to the front end with both, and the lighting upgrade with the BD (SAE, Amber) is epic.

So last week I put on a Fab Fours steel bumper on my 2019 2500. Now the Intercooler is just hanging out down there with no protection. The compatibility brackets had to be removed for the bumper install. Any ideas on a guard or do I just need to fab one?

Do you have a pic of how much it is vulnerable? You might ask Fab Fours about it. Maybe they have fabbed something up for others.

Sounds like typical FabFours design no functionality just god awful looks…. I would fab one up as there is nothing keeping the intercooler from getting crushed if you ride over something offroad

The only pic I have of it right now you can’t see what you need to. I’ll snap a better one in the morning when I’ve got daylight. Looked on their website and don’t see anything but that don’t mean they’ve not crossed this bridge before.

You can see in the pics a lot of their bumpers and what not have exposed intercoolers seems like a piss poor design it would be interesting to see if they have a solution

he’s probably going to be better off to fab something of his own. Most of their stuff isn’t really intended for use off road more for looks, although looking over what they sell i don’t know who thinks it looks good.
