Texas probably requires it because the state borders with Mexico.Texas requires a state inspection. So MD cant process the reg/plates until the truck purchaser goes home and has their truck inspected.

Wondering why that would matter?Texas probably requires it because the state borders with Mexico.
Only time I have seen this was with a car that had Bill of Sale but NO Title or one with an altered or missing VIN.
Damn Texas and Kentucky freaking liberal states!!!Never heard of that for brand new but I guess there some weird liberal states
This way of thinking/business strategy makes absolutely no sense to me. With this mentality, how do these dealers think they are ever going to sell more units and potentially increase their allocations? To me this thought process is completely a$$ backwards and it a sure way to either permanently stunt the growth of one's dealership or just go out of business. How short sighted!Yes first dealer I went to had no allocations and told me said I would have to pay 10,000 over msrp called around found one local that had allocations and nothing over msrp.
Ha (damn Gov. here thinks so due to Lex. and Louisville). But politics aside before I get banned. I found that Wyoming is another requiring what they call a "VIN Inspection" to be done by a law enforcement officer if purchased out of state and to be registered in WY.Damn Texas and Kentucky freaking liberal states!!!

On the other hand, and after working with Sandi at MD, their business model certainly appears to be one of growth and one where they will make both more bank deposits and more friends and certainly will show up on Ram's radar screen and should have their allocations increased. This is just my humble opinion as I've been self-employed for the past 24 years and have made many new friends who started as customers and have had many friends who've become customers.
Registering for the first time
Please visit the Office of the County Clerk in your county of residence to renew your vehicle registration in person. When renewing your registration, be sure to bring:
- Photo ID
- Current original (not a copy) proof of Kentucky insurance effective date within 45 days
- Money for fees and applicable taxes (check with your County Clerk's office for accepted forms of payment)
- Vehicles brought into Kentucky from another state will be required to have a Sheriff's Inspection
A lot of stolen cars go to Mexico from the U.S. I wonder how many they try to bring back to the U.S. with altered paper work to resell?Wondering why that would matter?
Always just seemed like a quick and easy revenue stream for the state.
Probably because it doesn’t involve voting
- Photo ID? How can that be?
The TX inspection is very basic. Lights, horn, tint % etc. Tons of places perform the inspection then upload pass or fail to the state. Then the state issues registration and/or plates. So if a VIN was flagged as stolen or altered, it would be caught by the state, not the inspection company.A lot of stolen cars go to Mexico from the U.S. I wonder how many they try to bring back to the U.S. with altered paper work to resell?
My rail car TTGX 992051 as of 7:48 am is in Hondo Texas . My truck needs to make it to twin oaks PA. Delivery date is 1/27- 2/5. I just can’t understand the reason for so many trucks that were Ordered 5-6 months ago and haven’t been built. I can’t amagine the frustration.
My order date was 10/25, 2500 bighorn, cumminsFrustrated old order person here. What was your order date? Glad to see your truck on the way as my truck will also go through twin oaks once Ram decides to build it. Might have a 2023 model at this point in the process!

Correct. For the most part, any new or used vehicle brought into TX from another state to be titled/registered here has to go through the inspection first. For diesels it's only the safety inspection, no OBDII sniffing. Not sure if HD Hemi's get OBDII checked, though.Texas requires a state inspection. So MD cant process the reg/plates until the truck purchaser goes home and has their truck inspected.
