Crap Firestone Transforce tires

These tires are the worst of the worst tires. I bought a new 2014 Ram 2500 4 door Longbed Diesel. Replaced those POS tires at 21,000 miles. Tried to get Ram and Firestone to warranty them. Neither would. Told me it was because of the "High Torque Diesel" was the reason they wore out so quick. I told them BS any other tires I have bought for my two previous "High Torque Diesels" lasted 50,000 mi minimum with proper rotation and alignment. Here i am again with my 2020 Ram 2500 Longbed Diesel. Replacing these tires at 21,000 miles..... Someone at Ram should really listen and put decent tires on these when you pay $50-$80K for a vehicle.

My 2004 Ram 2500 4 Door Longbed Diesel came with Michelins that lasted 55,000 miles....How nice. Anyone else have the same problem.?
 
did you do stock size with the coopers? do you like them? how's the noise?
 
I sold my 20" Night edition wheels and Transforce tires with 7K on them for $1000. When the guy came to pick them up I told him he was buying the wheels and TPS sensors and getting the tires for free. He said he was buying them for the tires. I guess he way overpaid for the tires then. But got a screaming good deal on the wheels. :oops:
 
What a trooper you are for putting 20k miles on those pieces of crap.

I replaced mine right away with nitto ridge grapplers which I rotated for the first time after 15,000 miles. I have 20k on them now and I’d say they’re at half tread or so. Expecting 40k out of them

Doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result? I'd have ditched those things after the first set.

Tires are a fickle thing. Typically (not always the case) if you want a long wearing tire they aren't going to grip worth a darn and if you want a tire thats going to grip its going to wear out faster. Especially on a 7500 pound vehicle. (keep in mind I don't know why the OEM tires can't grip OR wear well.....)

Come on now…..that story you must have made up! ;). Unless he was from some secret Transforce society. Maybe takes in all the unwanted farces and gives them a home on a farm somewhere:p.

I sold my tires on FB. When they came to pick them up, it had farm plates on it. Farm plates on a truck with 20: wheels. LOL. They were just looking for a cheap set of $500 tires for something that pulled their horse trailer and didn't seem to know or care there were better options.
 
My trashforce were 1/2 wore at 6k miles so you got good life out of yours lol, i sold em for 500$ and some crack head bought em. my cooper AT3 ltx have been great other than the 2 sets i had warrantied one set had 2 crack around the bead and the other set could not be balanced i have 43k km on the truck now and about 30k on the tires they are at about 60% with lots of towing and they still work great to plow snow with…. In my experience no stock tires have ever been worth keeping
 
On my drive home from the dealer, (about 700 miles), I noticed what felt like a bit of hydroplaning at freeway speed on wet roads. Just let off the gas and immediately it went away, but still disconcerting. I read lots of posts here about these tires so I knew they were not good. In the end decided to run the Transforce for a while before changing them to the Coopers. I checked around locally when they had less than 1,000 miles and it seemed I might get $300.00 for all 4. Honesty now I probably wish I had just changed them at the start and not had to think any more about it. But I was spending a bunch on the new truck and addons, so I was being $ shy at that point.

I have noticed that with a lot more weight in/on the truck than on the ride home from the dealer, they seem much better on wet roads. Also it could have been that the rain on the way home was after a long dry spell so the roads were more slippery than usual with oil, etc. film buildup. I have never noticed anything bad about them on dry roads. I keep them over 70psi also, but the ride is still OK. I don't drive the truck much in winter but recently I did take it out on roads with about an inch of snow and they were terrible in that situation. Almost no steering control! Putting it in 4X4 helped a lot but still, if I lived in a snowy area or drove a lot on muddy roads, I would not trust these tires. I have also noticed that in the back field, if the grass is wet or muddy, just hooking up my small utility trailer with landscape debris and branches in it, I need to go to 4X4 low or the tires just spin.
 
Tire shop guys always get the best look on their faces when you come in and tell them you want the brand new tires taken off your truck and exchanged for different ones

I tried two local shops and one said they did not want the Transforce at all. The other, Discount Tire, said they would give me $50.00 each for them.
 
I had the transforce till about 25k miles. I thought they were ok driving on road but were pretty much worthless when I hit some mud. They did wear kinda fast. I didn't like how they came white letters facing out. Proud of these!
 
I sold mine (wheels & tires) as soon as my new ones came in. I only had the Firestones and stock 20" wheels for maybe 400mi or so before selling them on Letgo. The guy who bought them was stoked on the package ($800 for all 4 wheels, tires, and lugnuts---no TPMS). Everybody wins!
 
I suspect I will have the keys to my new 3500 mid March. Fist stop on my way home will be to see my tire guy for a new set of Michelin LTX's LRE. Stopped in and talked to him about it last week. He told me to bring $500 with me.

500 bucks for 4 new tires? Seems crazy cheap especially for Michelin

I've dealt with the guy my whole life in business. Our shop is one of his biggest customers. He takes pretty good care of me (even though I'm retired) and he's keeping the Firestones.
