I’m new to the forum and a new PW owner. Bought it about 2 weeks ago and loving it. I apologize in advance if it has been covered already but I couldn’t find it under this section. My question is for the experienced off reader and vehicle recovery peeps. What is recommended for a hitch to pull cars out of snow/mud/etc… a hitch hook or shackle? Also, what recovery kit or gear do you carry as far as straps and stuff. Thank you and look forward to contributed as much as I can here.

https://factor55.com factor55 stuff is really nice and the hitch links are awesome. your truck should have came with a basic strap and tree saver and clevis..also when pulling out try and use your winch and if that is not convenient remember don't pull someone in reverse as your gears are not as strong pulling backwards. also remember there is liability with pulling someone you don't know out of a snowbank.

I use a hitch with a shackle or my pintle hitch if its already in, straps i typically use a bubba rope (kinetic rope) i also have a hitch mounted winch i have not used it in my truck yet as i still need to run my cabling to the rear of the truck

My truck only came with the winch. But yes anyone planning to use their winch needs to invest in at minimum a proper tree strap and shackles

For the rear: Factor 55 hitch link and a bow shackle (3/4 or 7/8)

if you bought it new it should have had a warn gear bag in it with shackle, and straps.

weird mine had a bag with a warn tow strap, warn tree saver and a clevis and a pair of gloves. mine is a 2020 lowly level 1..maybe it was thrown in by accident. It was separate of the controller and winch line sleeve. I figured they were just part of the power wagon package. I will have to ask my buddy who bought his at the same time if he got one I just assumed he did.

My '21 75th did not come with a goodie bag. I had to buy my own.
Same here. I bought a lot more other stuff, too. ;)

One thing I keep in mind for my gear purchases is that I buy to recover my truck, not somebody else's vehicle. That means that I get the equipment suited for my vehicle weight and probable mire factor. I have a story from this past Sunday for recovering a Hyundai Elantra out of the bottom of a snowy gulch and using a significant amount of recovery gear. I will do a writeup and post it.

I've been impressed with the GearAmerica brand stuff found on Amazon. I've got quite a few of their goodies filling up one of my Ramboxes

Aev makes a nice kit. Once I financially recover from my December spending spree I may pop on some of it :p

Subscribed. I just got my PW as well and have been working on my recovery kit. Already got the Factor55 2.5 receiver hitch shackle mount and 7/8 in shackle, and a couple of soft shackles. Would still like a tree saver strap, kinetic rope, winch extension line, snatch block, and maybe some traction boards.

Maybe your dealer hooked you up!

I think the rest of us just got the winch remote and line chafe guard

If I'm not doing hard core offroading (I live in Iowa after all), can I get by with just soft shackles?
Attached to what? They work well, but they aren't the only piece of recovery gear you should have. Personally, I like my kinetic rope. I have seen enough straps break to last me a while. Chains are dangerous and to have an adequate strength, they are very heavy. This past weekend, I used two soft shackles, my kinetic rope, my bullnose hitch adapter, my winch, my rear v-bar tire chains, my tree saver, my sheave and 1 hard shackle in my effort to help a guy out of an area he shouldn't have been in.
