Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System won't pair

2020 Ram 3500 Limited, have put trailer tire pressure sensors on six tires of fifth wheel camper. First tire will pair with truck when hooked up to truck, but the second tire pairing fails. It is a long trailer, so the wheels are approximately 50 feet from truck cab. Do I have a distance issue here, or what else can I try. Thanks for any help with this. Buzz

I have no idea what the range is but the receiver is mounted at the rear of the truck so the wireless signal does not have to go all the way to the cab.
I'm afraid I don't have much more to offer beyond that.
.

Thank you. Maybe I'll call the dealership, which is usually my last alternative.

HI Buzz, did you ever resolve this? I am getting the same system on a 2022 Limited. I have a 43 ft 5th wheel with two axles. I've read that there are issues with long trailers. I've thought of moving the receiver to the bottom front of the RV by extending the wiring from the truck but don't know if that is feasible.

I had to chuckle at the advice in the Ram Owner's Manual - "The TTPMS may have difficulty transmitting through steel-walled tires or on trailers longer than 30 ft. It is recommended to use standard tires and trailers less than 30 ft long to avoid dropouts or difficulty when pairing." I guess we solve the problem by buying shorter trailers.

Wish I had known this before I spent $449.00 adding this to my build. I was hoping to get something off my dash, I guess we will have to see how it works out.

Can you pair it with out being hooked up? Just thinking if you could be closer to the sensors for the purpose of pairing then see how it works going down the road.

I wasn't going to order the TTPMS system initially because of the pairing distance issue. In the end, I couldn't justify spending that much on a truck without getting the TTPMS system, so I ordered it anyway evening knowing about the problem. With a DRW truck, it will always be used for pulling some kind of trailer, so if I can't use it, the next owner might. I also don't want the extra monitor on the dash - already too many things to look at.

Yes, you should be able to pair it without being hooked up. I intend to park the truck with the back end next to the trailer axles for the pairing. Hopefully, once paired, there will be enough signal strength to stay active. If not, I am going see if I can find some kind of signal booster or look at extending the wiring to and past the trailer hitch to the bottom of the RV nearer the axles. I would add a plug for the TTPMS sensor along side the trailer plug. This may all be wishful thinking as I won't know anything about the sensor or how it is integrated into the truck until I get the truck. If I figure it out, I'll post it here. I won't get the truck for several months yet, so stay tuned.

No, I have never gotten the sensors on the wheels to pair with the truck. Actually, on several attempts, the first wheel paired ok, but then never got past that point. I did not see the advice in the owner's manual about the distance. Makes sense, we had an add-on system on a previous fifth wheel, and we needed to add a booster near the front of the fifth wheel to connect. Did putting the rear of the truck near the trailer wheels work? If you find the solution, please post on this forum. We've had the truck for over a year now. We have Goodyear G114 tires on the trailer, so not too concerned about problems, but would still like to monitor pressure and temperature driving down the road.
